If you like your smooth jazz with a bit of catchy lyric then Michael Franks is well worth a try.
Top musicians and production are a bonus.
I would start with Sleeping Gypsy.
Enjoy

Amp Fiddler. Basementality.

Amp Fiddler (love that name) sadly passed away beyond our galactic temporal bodily manifestation just recently.

I just noticed that you mentioned jazz rock, do you mean jazz fusion basically? If that’s the case, there are many great musicians to mention.

It was just when you mentioned jazz rock type I’ve got a few Bill Bruford albums and met him and seen him live.
I’ve got the old usuals Soft Machine and Coliseum Gong etc.
But not exactly smooth jazz Oops. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

TJ – and this, which is simply immense fun. Is it soul, is it funk at times, is it jazz? – whatever it is, it’s great to listen to (IMHO - )…not overly smooth at times, but don’t let that put anyone off.

King Curtis, Live at Fillmore West
