So What Is The Reason For The Switch From Green To White-Exactly?

There’s that suicidal management speak again!

Too big to park in tight spaces. Imagine if you will; a Jag bike with even more acceleration.

But at least it is not an illuminated logo and its brightness is quite dialled down.

I do love a a tongue in cheek response

Never a truer word spoken in jest.

The brand has not just lost identity. The devaluation of the green classic line is absolutely horrific. I just saw a 300DR sell for £2200. 2 years ago that went for £6000 second hand. It’s appalling.

Yeah you can definitely tell Jag is no longer British

It’s nothing to do with Green v white logos …. It’s a new range so of course the old range is devalued.

That has little to do with Naim itself other than bringing out a new range.

It is the used market and what people are willing to pay that determines the price.

Odd though in that if the green badge range was so reviered and missed as some above say the used price would be higher than it is due to the demand. That is not the case many are happy to ditch the green logo gear to buy the new in order to have the latest.

Personally I like it when Naim brings out new stuff as it means as someone who buys used there is suddenly a flush of used boxes and of course, as it is a supply and demand process it can mean prices go down.

Always find it fascinating when people denigrate these threads. Go ask the man in the street to assess the sanity of discussing power cables, shelving, cartridges etc. This is just a continuation of that. You pay thousands for kit there is only minutiae to discuss and… why not. Personally I struggled with chrome bumper; loved olive and classic. Always enjoyed aspects of the sound of all of them. Find the design of the new range odd at best so in that sense the white is the least of it but… to be honest if I found the sound engaging it wouldn’t matter (as my Chord Hugo TT2 likely attests) and I do not.

I like the green but, like @Simon-in-Suffolk, I prefer my kit with as many lights off as possible.

Did you know you can set your Sky Q remote so that the volume controls your amp. Useful if you run the TV sound through it.

I do turn the white lights down to their lowest setting - that’s not at all bright. Each to their own. I find the design of the NC smart and modern. The NC is also much easier to live with in terms of more standard ICs and easy configurability.

Jaguar became American, acquired by Ford, in 1989

OK I’ll admit it: never really liked the green. Chrome bumper and NC are my favourites.

Guess I’m going to have to spend Christmas on the naughty boy’s step.

Hardly 6K for a second hand 300DRl

We paid somewhere around that new.

Can get a new boxed 2023 set for under £5k now. Great value at that price.

I’m not sure when you bought it but the price of the 300DR brand new was £8k. And I wouldn’t touch brand new ones today even at £5k considering the huge depreciation. It makes more sense to buy a second hand one for £2k and send it for a service and you got a brand new one pretty much.

I’m afraid the NC series will be even worse

Absolutely, I fully agree. Personally, I have no intention of getting caught in that trap though. The current system is my final one. No intention of selling it ever. Green lights to the end for me.

The strange thing is that the 300DRand the 252 have taken a huge hit whereas the other models’ prices seem to be quite steady with only a small reduction.

How many people will purchase or not purchase something based on the colour of the illumination? If there’s any significant amount of sales lost, I doubt the LED colour will have had much to do with it.
