Solstice turntable

Hi folks, looking for some feedback on the illusive Naim short foray in to the turntable market. As it was such a limited run there isn’t a lot of information by way of reviews around, but a few years down the track and if there are owners out there, what are the comments from owners and what, if any, cartridge changes have been made? Yes, before it’s mentioned, there’s plenty said on the forum but I’m looking at current thoughts from people who have them and use them? Appreciated

Have you looked at the long existing thread about it, in the search part?

I mentioned that as these extensive threads (most, years old) ended up as a global ready to rumble knock down of criticisms by those who’d not heard the Solstice or a knock out comp on whether Linn was better…as my thread says all I’m interested in is info from people who currently are on the forum and who have one

Pretty sure until they need a new stylus they are happy with their investment..

Thanks but not sure what that means…the Aro2 arm is apparently pretty good. Really just looking for comments from people who have the table but thanks for the input

If you had used the search function it would have popped up that a replacement cartridge like for like wasn’t available “ small stocks might be now “
And the demand for an alternative counterweight to allow cartridge choice.
Again some were made available but supply seems a bit selective.

I fully understand if you haven’t the guts trying to read through the original thread, but its there there people are.

I did use the search function and there was extensive comments almost to the saturation point but not much on the turntables actual performance…particularly now which is why I’m asking the question of current owners who now have a few years of use under their belts

Sorry?? Haven’t the guts?? Really?? What a pointless response. I’ve spent many hours on the threads…read my comments…most are years old…I just want to know what people who have lived with these units for a few years now think…why is that so hard to understand?? If you have nothing to add why bother? This forum has sadly become more and more like FB. If you don’t have a Solstice then don’t answer

I get your frustration
I suppose the lack of in use comments might mean that owners are happy with them.
The biggest reason for much discussion was the support or lack of long term.
But certainly until maintenance is needed the package performs well.

As I posted a while back on the original thread, Naim have said that replacement Equinox cartridges and the alternative heavy counterweight are now available through Naim dealers.

I pointed that out. :+1:

Excellent comment and that’s truly appreciated…have a chance to pick one up at a decent price but also have a Michell Orb in the wings…

Regarding the search function;
If you want to target your search to solstice owners, put something like “solstice &chrisbell” (except put @ instead of &) and you will see related posts by that person.
Try chrisbell, dunc, bart, varyat

Thanks and great info…I have an Ortofon PW Ti that I’d transfer if I go down the Solstice path

No offence meant, I didn’t know you were a poster in the original thread.
Actually my response was based on my own view that I don’t have the guts to begin many hours read into thread.

Dunc has not the Solstice.
Most owners of the Solstice have upgraded the cart to top Dynavector or Lyra, and also the phono to Superline/ Supercap.
From what i could read, the arm is not so easy to set up.
A few months ago Naim could send different weights to the owners, to accommodate different cartridges.

I don’t have a Solstice but I did spend time listening to one with a Nait 50 and a pair of Tannoys at North West Audio Show 2024 and it was arguably the best demo at the show. Mrs twofifty felt the same.

I haven’t followed Clearaudio and their products lately.
wonder if they have a similar (but cheaper) deck upcoming, afterall they produced the Solstice.
Something that put me off finally buying a Naim Solstice (apart from dislike the high platter looks.)

Ahh gotcha, thanks for clarifying…I did spend ages going through the various feeds which weren’t really focused on the solstice and regularly went off topic
