Not a Linn fan or Roksan for that matter but it’s all about personal taste…opted for a Michell Orbe/Sorane SA 1.2 arm and Pete’s Pylons suspension upgrade…forum was very helpful, more avoiding a kind of double up with PSU and phono pre (already have a superline/supercap as previously mentioned.
Thanks…I’ve moved away as the Solstice just isn’t for me…
Not a specific “fan” of audio brands, no need to be, just nice to have a “wishlist”
Admittedly some brands are preferred over others, I believe this is the norm.
Actually should have been on my list too.
I fully agree in what you wrote.
If they had a better tonearm lift cue lever, I’d choose the 1300G though.
I’ve had GR, MK2, MK7 and now 100C - wouldn’t be without a Technics deck, same with Rega.
When I read certain comments, it hurts my heart. I have owned a Naim Solstice for 3 weeks and connected a Superline with Supercap, only to find that the NVC TT is better. I also tested 2 cartridges, a Mirco Benz LP S and a Dynavector XX Part 2. Both sounded worse through the Superline. I am selling the Superline now because the NVC TT is fresher, more accurate, deeper in bass, and has a drive that makes it hard to sit still. The Equinox is also very, very good. The ARO tonearm needs to be set up very precisely; you need to take your time with that. I listen with NAC 552, Nap 500, and Naim NBL. If it sounds a little thin, adjust the speakers or change your seating position until the bass fits.
Which Tannoy? Tannoy and Naim is great synergy IMO. I find it strange not more have tried it.
No idea which model sadly. Medium sized from memory. The owner of DNA audios’s dad is a huge Tannoy fan I seem to recall which is why they stock them. The looks aren’t for everyone I’d suggest.
Update. I’ve checked the 2024 show report and it looks like the speakers were Tannoy SGM10s ![]()
Thanks! I have the Eatons which is the version prior to SGM10 (not sure if any major changes more than design). Can confirm they sound very good ![]()
I even sold ATC SCM20PSL since I thought Eaton was better (more musical).
Never heard the ATCs but I can understand why you’d buy the Tannoys.
