Explains the “Naim Exchange” timing I guess.
Spotify will continue to work on older (Bridgeco based) products, so nothing is lost. The ‘extreme’ quality setting will give the 320k lossy stream, while on newer products + suitable Spotify account it gives FLAC lossless.

Steve
Thanks!
Hi all, does anyone know if the hifi tier on Spotify will be supported on Naim gear?
For the current platform. Yes! ![]()
Another one to merge/close @Richard.Dane
Is there anything that needs to be configured somewhere? It does n’t work on my ND5XS2. The Spotify app mentions that the device supports quality up to ‘Very high’ and the ‘Lossless’ option is disabled. See screenshot.
Ah, answer to my own question:
- Logout Spotify in the Naim app.
- Restart Spotify app and connect to the Naim device.
- Go to Setting / Media quality in the Spotify app and select ‘Lossless’
The logout in the Naim app did the trick.
No effect on my iphone/ND5XS2. Quality displays as. Normal, High and Extreme
It’s a phased rollout which runs into October. It’s simply not your and mine turn yet.
If you got the lossless option on your phone app then when you used Spotify Connect to Naim, you will get lossless if Focal & Naim app set to Extreme. No change needed for Naim 2nd gen streamers. Even mentioned that if Spotify were to release hires, the Extreme setting would handle that as well.
In the Naim app, the quality should be set to ‘Extreme’ and in the Spotify app, the quality should be set to ‘Lossless’. That should give you appropriate CD quality stream. It shows ‘lossless’ in the Spotify app when playing tracks. There is no indication in the Naim app of the actual quality.
Not everyone has lossless as an option at this point. It rolls out gradually. So most people don’t have it yet.
So, no support for the SuperUniti?
Indeed. The official roll-out starts in October. In some countries it is available earlier (I am in The Netherlands).
Me too, in the Netherlands I mean. But I don’t have it yet.
No “lossless” in my Spotify app, I guess I need to wait for the rollout to reach…
If you’d like to better support artists, you are using the wrong streaming service for sure.
I hardly used Spotify anymore. But this is a significant improvement in sound quality. It really sounds much better. I use Qobuz for listening to albums. But I like Spotify for casual listening to playlists and checking out recommendations.
Sounds like us greenscreeners are stuck with status quo. In low res.
