Streamer/DAC for Nait 50

A fair point; Then consider an Eversolo T8 plus LAIV…There are limitless options, all of which will be great….

For the NN50, perhaps the selection of the streamer / DAC ought to also consider the form factor…

The new Cyrus ST 40 would pair well aesthetically with the NN50.

The contemporary retro NN50 and a bang up to date streamer with similar dimeension; quite a nice juxtaposition…..

maybe you can change your wifi apparel before looking at a new streamer :smiley:

You’ve mentioned several issues regarding WiFi and software do you mind elaborating?

I like the Wiim software and the way it interfaces with TIDAL [my music service]. All the playlists appear as well as the native TIDAL Daily Recommendations. This is not freely integrated in BluOS nor Streamagic.

In addition, I have a BT Home Hub which can’t split frequencies nor can it be renamed across SSID. This creates issues with the streaming software and I can’t be bothered in replacing the router and resetting the whole household connectivities.

Back to the original pst then; What streamer / DAC has best form factor with NN50…

My choice would probably be

  1. Node Icon
  2. Cyrus ST 40
  3. Innuous Stream 1

Any others ?

That’s beyond my level of understanding. I use it as a straight up streamer into the NN50 and it hasn’t skipped a beat. Your requirement are clearly different to mine. Best of luck

I don’t have any requirement; I am just replying to the OP giving the benefit of my experience,

@AndyKH is your ND5XS2 ethernet hard-wired ?

No it’s WiFi and flawless

Linn Klimax DS3 Organik. It’s sublime with the N50….

agreed; I was lucky enough to demo a DSM Organik with a Sugden IA4; just a tad more expensive than the budget options, but oh so crystal clear.

how does it scale / complement with the NN50 @BrendanD

Well my speakers have a similar characteristic. Atohm GT1 SE on very heavy Atacama stands on granite blocks.

So the whole system is a very balanced combination of clear, controlled, fast. Very low noise floor, detail and nuance in spades, a very good sound stage in width but OK in depth (the 332/300/250 projected depth much more) tight and precise bass when it’s needed, nothing booms, and sweet pure high end.

Very happy with the system.

and there’s the rub; its all about synergy and expectation !

DSM has been offered to me on home demo; i will take advantage i think.

Push the boat out…DCS Lina?

I’m not the OP ! :grinning_face::grinning_face:

But have a vested interest in the forums opinion as I’m looking to upgrade my streamer

Which?

Roger

I use a WiiM Pro with a FiiO Warmer r2r tube dac. Hard to beat (for the money either).

Here in Milan the streamer is 2go and the DAC is Hugo 2, both from Chord Electronics.

It sounds outstanding.

First person I’ve seen with the Fiio warmer, I’ve got the k11r2r in one of my systems and it’s very good.

I’m thinking of giving thee R2R Warmer a try out; cheap enough or the K13 RTR

my thinking is the leaner WiiM Ultra into RtR Warmer into NN50 into SCM11 which may give it a touch of warmth

I think this is a really tempting proposition. I have the ultra into a Nait 5i and feel it has more to give with a “better” amp. Adding a different dac at a later stage provides the upgrade path.

Really impressed with the K13R2R and remote is handy.
