Exactly my source combo but into my Supernait 3. I often wonder how it can be bettered, what with and at what cost?
I run mine on battery though, I get a slight hum when plugged into the mains. Slightly inconvenient for longer sessions as my battery only lasts 4 hours or so now but I move the unit frequently to my desk for headphone use too. It is a fabulous and unique piece of equipment.
I created a thread about it on this forum a couple of years ago and with the help of others came up with the below. It worked for the hum but I sensed it removed something from the sound too, so took it back out again. Nothing major, just a real subtle difference, like the improvement in playing from the sd card in the 2go with it in airplane mode.
Emerson Analog with upgraded power supply.
Straight Signal Path with the same industrial design language as my Nait 50 with even fewer features (-;
No WiFi
No Bluetooth
No Screen
No Headphone Jack
No Mechanical Volume Control ( LEEDH )
No Remote
Bit Perfect
Qobuz Connect
iRadio (airable)
iOS Interface.
I have a shanling ET3 CD transport with Chord Dave into my nait50 so, though not a streamer as such, it does have the ability in addition to cd replay
Have to say Iāve not been this happy with the way my system sounds for as long as I can remember and Iāve (almost) given up looking at future upgradesā¦ā¦
I have had many streamers/DACs over the last few years.
Streamers:
Lindemann Limetree Bridge 2
Volumio Rivo+ (LineO 5 LPS)
Primare NP5 Prisma
DACs:
Chord Qutest
Naim DAC-V1
Chord Hugo2
Streamer/DACs:
Auralic Mini
Naim UQ2
Naim Atom
Bluesound Node (N130)
Lumin D2
Linn Akurate (Katalyst)
Auralic Vega S1
Cambridge MXN10
Bluesound Nano
There will be others that I have forgotten. I now find myself with the Wattson Emerson ANALOG and a LPS. It is a very simple setup: Qobuz and Tidal for streaming (I use neither), Airable for iRadio, UPnP/DLNA and Apple AirPlay. Thatās it. I only use the last 3. Wattsonās philosophy:
āThe Emerson ANALOG exemplifies Wattsonās commitment to engineering the shortest path to musical fidelity, transforming complexity into pure, streamlined performance.ā
Within my system it works very well. It is very simple to use. The Wattson Music UI has no thrills, it just works. I think I am contented. I may be at an end (finally).
@Andreas.ca , @badlyread , you really got me thinking now. My next upgrade for the NN50 is a new streamer, I have compiled a shortlist and I think I have to include this one as well.
It is really good but expensive for its size/features. I would not have considered it if I had not got it for a silly price (Ā£550 secondhand) but so glad I took the gamble. If money is an issue then I might be looking at the Limetree Network as I had really good results with the Limetree Bridge 2.
Iāve just swapped from a Cambridge EXN100 for Atom HE into the N50.. amazing and still have remote volume. No degradation that I can hear .. if only naim did a power amp in the Atom case that sounded like the 50ā¦
If I didnāt have my Linn DS3 Organik I would use an Atom HE. Glad it sounds good.
I agree a matching power amp for the Atom HE with the characteristics of the N50 would make a superb entry system. Would be cheaper and a better visual match than a NAP250NC. A modern DAC-V1 / NAP100ā¦..
I use a Bluesound Node Nano as a streaming transport going into a Chord Mojo 2 DAC and really love the combo! The sound signature suits the Nait 50 well in my opinion. When I first plugged it into the Nait 50 I heard this horrible buzzing/hum from the phono input even though the streamer input was fine. Thought it was a grounding issue but I tracked it down to the ethernet connection with my modem, which was passing noise through to the Mojo and from there to the Nait 50. The phono input is much more sensitive so it was amplifying the noise to the point where it was extremely noticeable. I found 3 possible solutions: 1.) switch to wifi; 2.) get a LAN silencer, 3.) decouple the Mojo electrically by switching to an optical connection to the Nano. Ethernet sounds better to me than wifi and a LAN silencer could have a negative effect on SQ so I opted for #3. Viola, buzzing disappeared, the Nano/Mojo combo sounds fantastic, my phono input is dead quiet and I am one happy camper.
