I was curious based on those that say you don’t know what you’re missing until you’ve tried, so I wanted to give it a go. I have tried fiddling around with DSP in Roon, but I’ve always favoured disabling it eventually so perhaps that indicates I don’t need anything else? I’ve not measured my room, but I think I might.
My comment about the D20Rs going down to 28Hz was a compliment, as most similarly sized/ priced speakers seem to give up in the 30Hz to 50Hz region.

I don’t use dsp in Roon but a clever convolution filter that ironically mimics the benefits having dual subwoofers do to even out and extend bass response but on on floor standers.
With regard to D20Rs bass response generally I agree and would describe them as prodigious!

All the time, room modes kills the bass and subbass response. Like my room, it has issue with 35hz null and the allae give up below 28hz. Some people has issue like a 45hz null and worse of all, 60-80hz null. The subwoofer just helps assist in cancelling or bringing up the null to a considerable amount.
After adding 2 rel subs, it just changes everything. Previously I always think my allae sound a bit hot in some tracks. Now it doesn’t sound hot with the meaty low end support, it just sounds enough.

Any suggestions for music to help with the set up?
I like the idea of trying Sibelius 4 and Schostakovich 10 but would like other ideas please.
Best thing to use for setup is REW and a microphone such as the miniDSP UMIK-1 or miniDSP UMIK-2.
This is much easier and much more reliable than trying to do it by ear. Set it up then do little tweaks by ear and then recheck the result with REW. This works a treat (and allows for time integration as well as volume / crossover point).
