Supernait 2 Volume Knob Issue

Hello to all, I took delivery of a Naim SN2 today and on taking the amp from the box, the volume knob just fell off the volume spindle (not sure if that’s the correct name). The knob has a wire connected to it and that is ok, and the amp is fine and in excellent condition.

I’ve contacted the seller who hasn’t got back to me as yet, but I’m not sure whether to just glue it back on, but if the volume pot needs changing then glue might not be a wise move. For some reason it’s very loose when I fit it back on the spindle.

If anyone has any tips on how to reattach the knob I’d be very grateful…

Thanks.

I suspect that @NeilS can advise here.

Does it rotate ok using the remote, and is the little green light on?

I’d be tempted to pack it slightly so it’s completely reversible; blob of blutac?

Thank You for your reply, Yes, I’ve got some blutac somewhere and yes the volume knob does rotate and the green light working fine.

The knobs can become loose because the slot in the pot shaft closes up, reducing the overall diameter. There should be a piece of cable tie cut to size in the slot to prevent this, but it tends to fall out if the knob is removed.

Regards

Neil.

Thanks so much Neil, I totally get what you’re saying here. I’ll be able to sort the problem out now.:+1::smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I slotted a bit of cable tie in and pushed the knob back on the pot shaft with no issues at all.

Thanks again NeilS :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
