Supernait 3 with Neat Petite 30 too bright

I tried,but they sound better not bi-wired.

Yes

I borrowed a demo pair of Neat Petite Classic from a dealer but I got a better price for a brand new pair of 30’s from a dealer in England!

How much time did it take to break-in your 30’s Bevo?

It was Bob’s choice to do bi-wiring for the 30’s,since the original Petite’s were bi-wired as well(I owned the original way back). He prefers bi-wiring.But I read that Naim doesn’t advise for bi-wiring.Either way,I tried and prefer non-bi-wiring with the Supernait 3.

Yeah mahn!:sunglasses:

Yes,they recommend with bungs,but I prefer without them,fuller bass.
I think you’re right;the 30’s do have a different cross-over so they might be brighter than the Classics.
But I got a great deal on the 30’s from a British dealer that I couldn’t pass up.So I chose the 30’s.

Audience ohno lll or au24? Beautiful cables. Are they considered warmer than Tellurium Q Black? Are both warmer than the NAC A5?

Is it too late to swap?

The Classics I borrowed were from a dealer near me in Canada, the 30’s came shipped new from England! I’ll give the 30’s a fair chance and I’ll keep breaking them in.

That is a very general statement & one that I would say is false. Like many things in audio, it’s more about the implementation vs the part. There are many speakers that use ribbon tweeters that aren’t bright sounding. It’s like saying I like soft dome tweeters because they’re smooth & not metal because they’re harsh, this again isn’t true, it’s all how they’re implemented.

I reckon about 500 hours on them and they really started to sing . They were pretty good at 300 hours even

As Stephen says get new A5 cables , that could be part of the issue

Thanks Bevo! They do sound good now at about 330 hours(I write down the hours everyday).
But I think they’ll sound as big and warm as the demo Classics I borrowed in due time.
Can’t wait! And YES for new cables, perhaps Naim or Tellurium or Audience or Witch Hat.

Stick to the Naim A5 I would suggest

Have you tried turning them yet? Even if it’s just while they bed in more. You never know, worth a try.

I’m scared to mess up the piano gloss finish!!!
But maybe after a few drinks one day lol
They’d put the tweeter to my knees,no good

Ah, ok. Understood.

If nothing else has changed between the demo of used speakers and your new speakers then I think you can rule out all suggestions to change cables, positions, mains etc etc
Unless the speakers a faulty then it seems that break in may be the solution ( although I am surprised 300 hours + is not enough )
It may help to maybe push the speakers a bit harder than your normal listening levels. If these are not stressing the speakers they break in may be substantially longer
One way is to wire one speaker out of phase and place the speakers facing each other, throw a duvet or similar over them and leave then running 24 / 7 at a loud setting. This reduces the perceived volume
This should accelerate any break in without driving you or your neighbours mad
This is worth a try and is free
Hope this helps

You know,I’ve been listening/breaking-in the speakers with no more than 70db listening levels.
So you’re right,I should push them louder when I can.But I do listen to them 8 to 12 hours a day.
I recently retired!

I’ve had the Au24 and TQ but not at the same time, the TQ would be warmer but seem to lose a bit more detail than the Audience.

I believe @frenchrooster has a newer/better model Audience speaker cables and may comment more on the sound.

In any case I would agree as others recommending, and would decide on the speakers and make sure this is sorted first.
