System Pics 2019

Hi Tony… No. They are only Bronze Five floor stand jobs… However… Very good… And yes… The gaias do make a difference.

Good Morning All,

Not sure what happened to my previously posted picture from the 9th but here is an updated one - you can’t see that the LP12 now has an Urika II fitted but you can tell the mat has been replaced!! Also that the LP12 is now on Quadraspire shelving and the streamer is sitting on its own shelf not atop the NAC52.

I’m also collecting bits towards a second system having bought a Hicap and NAP250 (with a complementary NAC32.5 thrown in - now at Class A for servicing), a pair of active Linn Sara’s and Naxo 2-4.

My wife advises the curtain material is chosen and the joiner assures me he’ll be in before Xmas to fit the skirting…

Hi, I wanted to ask you if the red Collar on the turntable has made a noticeable improvement in your case … I have a Marantz TT15 S1 turntable and I am undecided whether to buy it … Thanks.

Andrea,

After the Urika II was installed at Cymbiosis I listened to just a couple of tracks and the most obvious change was an increased openness ‘front to back’ to what I was listening to.

The problem now I am home would be separating the impact of the NAC52/ Urika II and Collaro mat. Frankly as I’m enjoying the sound ‘as is’ I’m not much tempted to do a great deal by way of experimentation on the basis it it ain’t broke don’t fix it…

I didn’t understand much!

Andrea,

I guess it is always going to be difficult to explain what one hears to another person.

I have found that as I move up the hi-fi ladder three things happen (if I can simplify it that much);

  1. instruments become more discernible

  2. the stage opens up left to right

  3. the stage opens up front to back

Whilst I haven’t listened to much equipment outside the Linn/ Naim window I find that as a musician (part time) and having attended live music events I believe I know what I’m listening for.

There are people out there who criticise the Isobariks and make statements about their perceived shortcomings. For me they just get better and better at what they do as the source and amplification is upgraded.

Bart,

It’s an original unused 750 x 16" Firestone SAT to fit my trialling Land-Rover. Unfortunately we had a significant fire in our outbuildings in May and various bits which have arrived since are currently stored inside.

I do actually have a 70lb ‘choke’, which I hope survived the fire, that I took out of an Old Lincoln welder which puts anything Naim use to shame.

I recently purchased one. It tidies up the sound and lays things out more coherently. The timing is better so you can hear the interplay between the instruments. Not sure how it would work on a Marantz table. I would email Collaro directly.

Absolutely. Do I remember that you have two of these red mistresses, Peder? Is that allowed in Sweden?

:small_blue_diamond:@Ardbeg10y,…Only under certain circumstances :grin::joy::grin:.

But more seriously,.yes I have two “red”.
One in reserve,.when the other starts to run out. Reason: It takes a long time to send,.and get back the cartridge (rebuild) from Goldring.
With this solution so,.I never have to be without a cartridge.

My new QB2 which I’m really pleased with. I have had other less modest systems in the past, but this one still gives me just as much enjoyment!

That’s a really cool little stool it’s on, perfect for the job!

Yep looks great on that stand made to measure.

Thanks, I made the stand out of some scrap plywood and some bits of pine. It’s a little chunkier than if I was making a small table, but then this is essentially a speaker stand rather than a table, so I wanted the chunkier legs and top and extra bracing on the legs.

Added a Superlumina interconnect between the NDX2 and SN2. Involved quite a bit of Yoga and drilling on a very hot day :sunglasses: Followed Nigel’s advice diligently, no touching other cables, cabinet or floor. It involved some looping, new holes and a bit of fishing tackle, but it all came together. Sounds rather sublime, quite impressed on how a different interconnect can lift the game.

I even got to do the Richard Dane gig.

You’re going to have to ditch that Sky box soon…or get a proper HiFi rack :wink:

Haha. That’s been a plan for a longtime but I’ve never got round to it! I think my upgrade path will be a slow one because that adds even more expense! :thinking: I’d happily lose the skybox though!
