Or at least a Sky Q box!
Only when looking at the pictures again (was curious what preamp you used) did I notice it’s the C372 integrated, not the C272 power I had.
As the poweramp section in the C372 is the C272 my comment that combining it with the C162 pre is worthwhile upgrade still holds.
The dog doesn’t look too impressed!
Well spotted
I suspect it’s because he/she can’t get their paws on those stuffed items on top of the speakers.
I call them “stuffed items” because words fail me
Here is my new system, first foray into a NAIM system and have to say it sounds great!!
System comprises NDX 2, XPS DR, Supernait 3, HiCap DR driving Focal Sopra No.3’s on the stereo side together with a Rega P3 turntable. On the AV side I have an ARCAM AVR850, Oppo 205 and KEF LS 50 surround speakers with some old KEF sub which I need to upgrade at some stage. All HiFi equipment is in a BDI cabinet which is great for housing equipment, cables and a centre speaker for AV use. The only trouble is I’m thinking I should have gone for a NAC 252, SC DR and a NAP 300 lol
Just playing with ROON at the moment, seems to be pretty good so far, what do you think to this service
That looks like a nice setup but an awful lot of speaker for what looks like a little room. They normally require a lot of breathing space.
Thanks Popeye for your response, yes, ideally the room should be bigger but guess what they actually sound great, the guys from NAIM actually came up and set the electronics up and positioned the speakers. I think I need to a larger house lol.
Having a clean out in the loft I came across this old Nad tuner I bought back in the early days of eBay for about £30 if I remember by coincidence I actually bought it to go with my first Nad c372.
Connected it up earlier and it doesn’t half bad and also looks pretty good too doubt I’ll keep it there long term though as reception isn’t great down here without an outside ariel and is restricted Radio 1, 2, 3 & 4 and a couple of terrible commercial pop stations.
Still using mine which I’ve had since 1981 but I did have to put a 4 element aerial in the loft and I leave it tuned to Radio 3. Not as dynamic as the web radio through the 555 but somehow I still prefer it. If the BBC ever get round to lossless streaming that preference may change.
My Magnum Dynalab ( tube) started making loud popping noises, so I swapped it for my NAT 03 , very very pleased with the sound.
After 15 years of inactivity it took about two hours to warm up. As I said sounds great with Radio 3, but within a month on Christmas Eve my favourite radio moment of the year will be happening, the Service Of Carols and lessons from Kings. A real work out for any system, the dynamic range from the boy soprano to the great organ voluntary , and oodles of tests in between.
The FM radio service can be an audiophile dream
I had one of those some time ago - yes, it was very good.
It’s a shame in a way. I still have a very nice Sansui radio in my storage unit, but no real use for it. Neither do I want to get rid of it because it’s such a nice piece of equipment.
I guess I shouldn’t be so sentimental.
There is something about the analogue FM sound that just can’t be replicated through an internet stream (however fancy the streamer is). It’s hard to explain but it just draws you into the music.
I’m afraid it’s a service that is not in demand much anymore except maybe whilst driving, when I bought that Nad tuner it was in use daily and I still have a Radio in use everyday in the kitchen though tuned to DAB and in the living room tuned to the internet.
Sadly there just isn’t the choice on FM anymore there is much more static on my FM dial than radio stations.
Always a room for sentiment, I think that’s what kept vinyl going, and now look vinyl sales.
Besides there is something about certain Japanese products that is very desirable.
I don’t know about sentiment, digital was always second best, though, I’ve had to work a bit harder on my vinyl replay recently to maintain the lead. Cost wise it still does it if you only consider the gear and not the media.
This is our Qb in the dining room. We’ve made a few improvements recently including installing the ceiling light we’ve always wanted since moving in over 27 years ago!! It wasn’t easy.
Very nice, Nigel
Why not run the all the AV through the NDX2?
