Current system.
Changed from the ATC SCM40A to the ATCSCM50A last week.
Also added the MSB Premier Powerbase last week as well. Still settling in, but liking it very much so far.

I heard the 50’s at Audio T Brighton earlier this year fronted by 252/500 while my LP12 was being Radikalised. A very impressive speaker. I’d say in the right room they would be something wonderful.
I know you’ll need to run it in, going to be rather “painful” but do you hear much difference between 40A and 50A?
It’s a bit hard as I added the MSB Premier Powerbase too.
But, as good as the 40A is, the 50A seems to add a lot more mid bass punch and drive. Not so much lower bass, but tighter and punchier bass.
The Midrange seems to have more clarity and is better too.
However a lot of that may also just be because the active amp adds an extra 50W bass / 40W midrange / 18W tweeter over the 40A specs. As an active speaker, the extra W cannot be underestimated as it adds considerable extra dynamic headroom to the speakers. And that is my key take away point from the change. Dynamic range is now crazy good.
Recently added an RME ADI2 fs dac to my system. Not had huge amount of time to fully evaluate but initial thoughts are very good indeed.
Now Bob, there you go using patience, evaluative process, and common sense - definitely not the “audiophile” way!
Sure is a sexy looking piece for sure.
Interesting, this a professional dac?
They do make a professional version but this model is the domestic HiFi version. Their first foray into domestic HiFi equipment.
Someone gifted me this old war horse from Ortofon still plenty of life left in it though and even into the MC input of my Musical Fidelity V LPS it sounds very good indeed.
I had a 202/NAPSC/HiCap2 for well over a year before I traded up to a 282. I was really very impressed with how much better it was, and never looked back. It’s one if the best upgrades I ever made. There were no downsides to moving away from the 202. I kept that 282 for about 6 years or so before I jumped to the 252 I have now.
Wow, is that a subwoofer sitting beside the Fraim?, looks HUGE.
