System Pics 2020

Relatively new to Naim, it’s been lovely to see all the inspirational systems on here. I thought I better post a picture of my setup as it is currently.

Is that a Technics turntable ?

Thank you ,we just moved in and its a really nice and relaxing space to listen to music and fortunately the acoustics appear to be pretty good.

…I do so think that a nice environment is condusive to happy listening.

Yes it is a lightly modded SL1200mk2 with Jelco arm, really pleased with the turntable :+1:

Looks like a second floor listening room. Stairwell to left on the other side of the glass I presume? Very nice listening area indeed.

Thank you yes its a mezzanine area above our family, kitchen/ dining area with stairs coming up on the right hand side. its quite a large space for the small B&W’s to fill but so far the seem to be doing a great job.

lol ! Clearly that’s the photo of the month !

What B&W’s are they, I do remember them but the name escapes me, used to own a pair of 805N’s, which I gave to a mate and still doing sterling service, they could always fill a room no problem at all. Lovely looking system, and as others have said, really well balanced.

Thank you they are the PM1’s which are slightly smaller than the 805s. I would be keen to hear the latest iteration of the 805 D3 on the end of my system.

Totally agree, would like to hear a pair myself, interesting that they have just launched signature versions of the 700 series, including the stand mount 705, could be an interesting speaker at the price point.

I bought this used Goldring 1012GX for my Hadcock as it looks an excellent match but as the Hadcock is still away I decided to stick it on the Rega. For the £65 I paid it’s excellent value for money and is a really enjoyable listen I’m developing a real preference for MM carts they just convey more emotion and a more fun than some of the MC’s I’ve owned of course the don’t have the higher detail or the sparkly top end but they do have great bass.

Off topic, Mark, do you know if they are also selling the active ATCs, like the 40A? In the past I lived a couple of bus stops from them but right now I am in Brazil, so the question. Thanks.

I think I share your view here. Possibly the most musical and, hence, enjoyable cartridge I’ve owned was the Linn K-9. I think I ‘upgraded’ it to a Linn Adikt, which provided nothing like as much enjoyment.

I went from a long period of using MC carts (mostly Supex) to a 2M Bronze and haven’t really looked back. A top end MM cart with a Fine Line stylus can pull a lot of music from a groove and they tend to sound pacy and vibrant. An added bonus for Naim users is that their MM phono stages are excellent performers.

I use a Goldring 2500 on my Rega P3, and have a Ortofon 2M Black on a P6, all good stuff as you say!

The 2M range are most definitely on my radar and course being able to try both Bronze and Black on the same body is a real bonus.
I’m using an AT150 EA which is a micro line which I love and is also capable of taking most of AT’s VM range of stylus’s and depending on your budget is at any given time It can accommodate

Yes, the SCM50 ASL is the Active variant.

Agree, but not an issue as I play mostly at low volumes and the room do not allow for much different set up. Much better as I now have the LP12 on the wall!
