I’m betting this is what it looks like in your home…

Thanks!

Before moving to pass amp did you audition the new supernait3? I apreciate your opinion on sn3 because of your long time addiction to naim sound and your experience. I m a little confused on sn3 performances because some says that it is a sn2 with phono and other says that it is a different amp with wider soundstage and a deeper and impactfull bass

I’ve owned all the Supernaits over an extended period of time and the 3 is not the same as the 2.
It’s probably closer to a SN2 + HiCap DR but even then I’ve found it has better cohesion in the mid/upper mids.
It also appreciates a decent source. I had an ND5 XS2 on mine briefly which was quickly replaced by an NDX2.

Hi,

I have had three SN1s, never a 2 and have auditioned the 3 for a few minutes in a store. My impression is not dissimilar to that of Mr. M; I never liked the 2 because I found it a little ‘mannered’ when what I loved in the 1 was its 'boldness, a certain sharpness and the ability to apparently drive everything. Yet, I always found it a bit monochromatic. This didn’t prevent me from having three of it…

The 3 seemed to me a discreet correction of the 1’s monochromaticity and an injection of liveliness on the 2. Taken for granted that the old, classic Naim sound was sharp, bold and lively - hence prone to give veridicality to the music and addiction to the listener - and it’s been slowly corrected in almost all models to a more ‘universal’ voice, I still regret the unicity of the 1 but have to say that perhaps the 3 is by far the best of the three.

Hope it helps.
Choose wisely. The 1 had a very underrated DAC on board, and phono stages are everywhere, including a Stageline, definitely worthwhile.

What I probably could have said in fewer words is that if you buy the 3, you’ll have a splendid integrated not very dissimilar to other great integrated; if you find a nice 1, you’ll have to bear a few flaws but will enjoy an old-school Naim voice that has irreplaceable moments.

Thanks Max, i m an old naim addicted as well, I ve a 92 and 90.3 olive amps. What i can says is that really i don t know new school naim but i fou de the sn1 really good but with not much colors so i can perfectly understand what you define monochrome. I Own devore gibbon 3xl speakers and following your description if sn3 is the Technicolor version of the sn1 probably, partner et with hi cap dr, it will be my choice.

Thanks a lot

I would’ve stayed at school longer if they had classrooms like that. :+1:

Gordon Taylor was also the man behind the original Genesis car audio amplifiers. They have a very good reputation. I bought a 4 channel model direct from Gordon who has upgraded it to the latest specs - it is a lovely object and great sounding amplifier - he was also a pleasure to deal with and very honest. I run it in my MGB GT driving Focal components upfront and a JL Audio micro sub in the boot - all installed by yours truly🙂. Admittedly an MGB is not the best environment but it is fully Dynamated and the DSP in the head unit goes along way to improving the sound - it’s really good when stationary!

Ah - I thought that name sounded familiar. Sounds like a nice setup.

Thank you - I think it is as good as one can reasonably get sound-wise from an MGB - it would no doubt sound better in something more refined! I did a fair amount of research before undertaking the project (complete interior removal/retrim as well) and got advice from the people behind the MGB LE 50 recreations that have a very good system in them - they were very helpful. At some point I will post pictures of the ‘build’ - perhaps in a ‘car systems’ thread?

Good idea. That sounds like an interesting thread :sunglasses:

Since the last time I posted pictures of the listening room, I replaced the NDS by a ND555 and the MD-100 by a MD-107T. Currently, listening to a great live concert broadcasted by France Musique. Fantastic sound!

The little boy on the left K6 is recent too. He improves the listening experience tremendously. And the sound too. He is directly connected to the earth, the sky and the spirits. He adds so much details. The bass is incredible. The percussions are rendered in so much details.

Cheers,

Michel

Had a move around today and moved the 500 and 552 over to the main rack, also moved the rega P10 power supply as far away as possible from the aura and turntable.
Lastly a foot with no sock lol

Nice rack you have, what isthat?

Whats with the faces man?

I love how your system literally melts into your room. I really had to search for the speakers and black boxes. I like that.

Thank you for the kind comments.

I love the look of the Naim gear but it has to blend in the décor. With just black and white it is kind of easy.
