Would certainly agree on a vfm basis the Olive amplifiers are a relative bargain. I just checked the DR upgrade prices for the 552/500 and the cost is greater than your cd/amps/speakers combined. I had all 4 Olive components serviced at Naim (including Pots8 for the 52) at less than 1/5 of the DR upgrade.
Each to their own, absolutely, but too rich for my palate. I am sticking with my Olive gear. To paraphrase Rolls Royce, its performance is "adequate ".
Does it include the dedicated amplifier support platform?
I am about to get my 52, sc, xps, serviced inc. pots8 (135’s within service period) up in Sheffield at what seems a fair price for a proper job. It will be good to go back to my 82/sc/250 which I haven’t listened to since I got the current setup recently.
Since we have been reminded, correctly, that this is a pics thread, here’s a shot of current setup:
No, don’t be silly. Can’t you see that was bespoke? Three layers of heavy duty vinyl mailers hold together with premium duct tape for maximum sound/vibration insulation.
Very clever use of angled and straight lines in close juxtaposition suffering wonkyness yet utterly level…
You got it!
I had so many things going on with my system in a short space of time I cannot quantify discrete improvements other than the service was very effective (probably more so than I was anticipating) , and the Pots8 improved the action of the volume control.
It took week or two for things to settle down. Make a note of what lead goes where: I didn’t and I spent a muttering, sweaty couple of hours before I got things right
Thanks for the info, good to know it’s worthwhile. As for connections, I have a secret weapon - the very very handy little pocket sized Connection Guide. It covers everything I use.
V good
That looks superb, Graeme. I still rate Olive as the most classy looking range Naim have produced, possibly because I have very fond memories as I was introduced to Naim gear with olive kit.
Ah a Naim Flash… a nice remote…how I miss mine… some years ago the display bleed such that I could no longer read it or use it.

If I didn’t have what I have this would probably be my dream system Graeme. Lovely!
Retro corner! Some Chrome Bumper kit would have been nice though. New 70’s sideboard will house switch and Zen Mini when I get around to it
I had trouble with footfall occasionally causing the stylus to jump when the TT was on the Fraim. Problem solved with a wall mounted shelf. The floor is made of suspended wooden boards in a Victorian House.
I would also venture to suggest that Fraim is not invariably the best support for electronics in some circumstances either. But that is a topic for another thread.
Very nice with the Eames combination. The bottle lamp on the 70’s sideboard is the icing on the retro cake.
Either you’re my size or they’re damn big speakers.
