System Pics 2020

I remember trying to dissolve a methyl silicon polymer years ago, (to make my own gas chromatography medium) I think it needed chloroform and/or toluene, both of which would likely dissolve the rega too. They wouldn’t do you much good either.

Just trying to help

Love the minimalist look of the Planars.

I always allow myself a chuckle when one of those “polished chrome dustbins on a car axle” monstrosities turns up…

Some are even more minimalist…

Well, I would have posted a pic of my 272 re-installed, but Naim forgot to include my Tibia power cord in the box, so no go there. :frowning:

Just use whatever you can find until they send the Tibia to you.

Yeah I have to see if I can find some old power cords from now defunct desktop PCs buried somewhere.

is the red mat original from rega?

That’s a stunning result, like others have asked, what polish did you use? I’ve got exactly the same TT as you and also a Planar 3 on a second system in black. Did you also use the same on the lid? Cheers.

Sorry, just seen an earlier reply further down in thread. I’ll have dig around in the garage, I used to own a classic Karmann Ghia so have some gentle polishes out there.

Very nice! Is that an A3300? I have one too - a high speed 2 track. Unfortunately it needs a service as I get no sound from it any more. Great deck when it’s working well though.

I see an Adcom pre/power in there, and also a Denon Cassette Deck, and what I think might be a California Audio Labs CD player?? Funnily enough, a friend of mine in NYC had a similar CD and pre/power to yours.

P8 looks nice with the red mat, unfortunately doesn’t recommend same with the P10, not sure why? anyone tried one of the Rega coloured mats with the P10? it seems limited choice of white, and unfortunately white on white is a bit unadventurous for those with outlaw tendencies…

I imagine it’s because of the ceramic platter. If you look up replacement mats the white one has always been specified for the Planar 9, the RP10 and the latest P10, all of which have the ceramic platter. I got the red mat for the P6 to lift the greyness but I think it works even better, visually of course, on the more exposed 8.

…the P10 mat is thinner than those used on Rega’s other TTs…this is deliberate and is much better sounding.
