I wish I could say unbelievable, but in this day and age, all too believable.

Are you doing spikes directly on tile? How does that work when moving/adjusting?

Yes. Spikes directly on tile. When doing small adjustments to the positioning of speakers, the stands are lifted up together with speakers. Sometimes I let the spikes of the stands slide on the tile with very small adjustments such as toe-in. No scratches to tiles.

Do you find that having loudspeakers so close to other opaque objects (furniture) adversely affects sound reproduction? @traume

I presume this question is for me? In this setup where 2 pairs of speakers are placed close to each other, the sound is slightly affected for both speakers. The speaker placed close to the side wall should not be there but I do not have the space to set them up elsewhere. Since I have the intention to keep both pairs, I am currently trying to optimise the placement so it would work for both speakers.

The Marten are the main speakers and they need to sound close to their best. They airiness in the midrange and treble is slightly reduced while the overall sound becomes slightly fuller or thicker in the midrange when the Harbeth was placed at the side walls. The sound quality was worse several days ago but i managed to get some of the airiness back by shifting the Harbeth slightly forward into the room, and things have improved for the Marten. The Harbeth actually sounds reasonably good although it’s placed very close to the side wall, quite a surprise really. The overall tone is warmer with the treble sounding a bit dark but it doesn’t really sound too bad.

As for other furniture affecting the sound, every piece of furniture in the room counts. Music surely sounded better with the fabric couch placed on one side of the wall. Currently the couch is removed from the wall and there is a drop in sound quality. There is a TV on the other side of the wall and similarly the sound is different when TV is removed from the rack or shifted along the wall.

The stand matches the speakers stands . Nice. :+1:

You’ve just reminded me of where I got them from.

Yep I know what you mean buy that they are very nice
Going onto your floor
I had a broth in law who lived above a shop in Totley rise in Sheffield he had to put 3inch blocks under his old oak dresser to get it level the floor was sloping back to front by that amount

Can you explain your usecase? Two different systems? Different speakers for different music? If the latter, how do you switch between them?

Lucky you: yours is a far better night than mine!

Made some changes recently. Decided to cut back a bit on vinyl so sold my beautiful Vertere DG-1 and got a cheaper VPI Scout with HRX feet. And to be honest, I enjoy this table more than my former P8 and Vertere. It’s something special with this unipivot arm that connects with me every time. It’s also more accurate in speed and flutter than those tables. Took the rest of the money and also bought a Lumin U1 Mini so all in all a much better sum of parts now.

Lovely system aesthetics with how the spkr and eqpt stands match the loudspeakers. The bad string player in me likes the string instrument themed art. Who is the artist?

I am surprised, I remember how enthusiastic you were for the DG1.
I was dreaming before on the MG1 but finally not anymore. It looks a bit bling bling, with a poor looking power supply and seems a bit fragile, not very stable or rock solid deck. The prat seems to be well under the P10. And , contrary to you, I am not very confident with Unipivot.
But all that may be more my imagination and is related to reviews I read, not my experience.
Congrats on your VPI, it looks good with the special feet.

Thanks. The painter is unknown

Different speakers, different sound. I just don’t want to let the other pair of speakers stay dormant for too long, in this case the Harbeth. The Harbeth may not sound close to their best with the compromised placement in the room but they still sound rather good instead of poor after some work with the positioning. Most importantly they do not drastically affect the sound of the Marten.

I will evaluate the sound quality of the system after further optimisation and will remove one pair of speakers from the room (Harbeth) in due time to see if there would be a significant uplift in sound quality with the removal. If the difference is minimal, I would leave both pairs in the current configuration. If there is a huge improvement in sound quality with a pair removed from the space, I will have no choice but to pack up the other speaker in the box and decide what to do next…

I switch the speakers by switching the cables. Although my amp can take 2 pairs of speaker cables( 2 sets of speaker terminals for Speaker A and Speaker B), I only use a pair as it would be too messy to have 2 pairs installed.
