My standard line about Charlotte is that it’s a nice place to live, but you wouldn’t want to visit.
The only museum of any significance is the NASCAR Hall of Fame. That singular fact alone speaks volumes about the cultural aspects. It has a mid-level symphony. Many music acts seem to skip the area. (I had to go to Greensboro to see Joe Jackson, and Columbia, SC to see Macca.) Decent medical care/hospital systems (within the context of the ridiculousness that is medical care in this country.)
It’s a city at an awkward size. Too big to be little, and too little to be big. Caught between being a big-league city (football and basketball), and a minor league city (baseball and hockey). Very little about the the area is “world class.”
I don’t know from where you are moving, so I don’t know what you are used to. Mooresville would be a town I would consider in the area, although once I get married (hopefully this year) a move out of the area might be an option, although the primary goal is leaving the USA, if possible and feasible.
So as not to derail the thread any further than it already has, you can ask Richard for my email if he is willing and I can answer anything else.
Bart, I am a native of Boston and landed in Seattle in January of 1996 and never left. A beautiful climate that allowed me to sail, kayak and ride a motorcycle year round. For those who like to ski/snowboard the mountains are a short drive away. The bonus is I only have had to shovel snow a half dozen times in the past 25 years and can’t recall ever running into a mosquito!
Like a lot of places it has gotten crowded over the past 25 years but the Pacific Northwest is still a beautiful place with lots of places to stretch one legs, on land and out on the water…
…and they do have three Naim dealers in the area although I have only worked with one of them.
The dealer I use is Hawthorne Stereo located at 6303 Roosevelt Way NE, Seattle, WA 98115. They have a website and sell new and used gear and a nice demo room. I have worked with a few members of the sales staff over the years and all have been knowledgeable and helpful.
We do love to hike and ski. Been considering Park City Utah area. I’ve never spent any real time in the Pac NW outside of a weekend skiing at Whistler and a couple of short business trips to Vancouver!
I do love British Columbia and Vancouver Island and both easily accessible by car and ferry. There is great hiking out here including the Olympic peninsula and the Cascade mountains. If nothing else you should plan a vacation trip out and check out the PNW. The San Juan Islands are beautiful as well…
Hi @Bevo No I changed them for him, with 5 of my previous picture edits relating to his posts.
If you enlarge the picture you can see I added a ‘paint’ filter to each of them (not the puzzle though).
I think I need a lie down after a hard days works and I don’t work mondays - just expanded the image on the iPad - it’s your feet and diesel - ha - good one
