System Pics 2021

Not any big changes for 2021. Just added a used Audio Pro Subwoofer right before Christmas. A welcome addition for some source material (i.e Metal, Industrial and other “bass heavy” genres). Oh, Happy New Year to all of you

Naim do switch their terminals opposite to everyone else but it’s still simple enough figure it out. I’ve always used the ‘Red for Right channel’ approach when connecting up and it’s never failed me so far.

The tricky one can soldering up pairs of NACA 5 if your using Naim’s speaker plugs too as you have to think about the plugs at the amp end.

Super Lumina.

Gotcha, yeah it’s fine if they don’t use the double pin plug (which I guess would be a bit curious given the note on the back of the amp says they should be).

The double pin plug has to be configured correctly because it’s different for each channel, +/- for left and -/+ for right.

No changes since Oct when I put the ND555 in. I am a vinyl man and the TT does not sound as good as the ND so I can see the TT being changed soon. I must ring dealer… I have some jobs to do outside but it is bitterly cold out so indoors with nice warm cuppa listening to some Bowie as you really have to this weekend don’t you ? No doubt when summer comes I will be indoors decorating !

Except sometimes it means superline and you have to rely on context to know which.

If someone has a slight loss in one of his/her ears, a slight tweak to the balance would perhaps help in that situation I’d guess?

Yes, when I went from 180 to 135’s I forgot about this so was listening to one speaker out of phase for a while! A common mistake with 135’s I believe.

But it would make a lot more sense to have the terminals changed (like most manufacturers) wouldn’t it?
Obviously Naim fanboys would never agree though :joy:

and a Happy New Year to you also. Very neat system/room

Aye.

When I had NAP135s and NACA5 cables, I had one speaker cable coming from below and the other from above to address this issue. Then my Naim retailer told me to twist the pins round inside the plug - simple fix.

Naim may follow the herd more than they used to but there’s no need to over do it.
