Will you be using the preamp facility into your NAP500? Or maybe just the streamer into your NAC552? I’d be interested to read your thoughts if you were to compare both options.

That’s very smart. The only thing I’d say is put the Napsc on the floor round the back, as it won’t be helping the Headline.

Currently set-up with WH Morgana RCA-Din into 552…will run it like this for a week, then ask dealer if he will set it up into the 500 directly…and compare…

Haven’t tried that partic option as yet…exploring several options…(also need to consider how the TT fits in..)
e.g. thinking about retaining Naim amp/s, going active ATC, replace 552/500 with a.n.o. power amp, replace 552/500 with a super-duper integrated (with phono stage)…

Preamps do like to be kept away from power supplies as much as possible, which is why Naim separates always have their PSU in a separate box which should, ideally, be kept on a separate shelf on the rack. I would guess that your Headline would be the same in this respect, so HH has a point. Trouble is, you have run out of shelves. Probably the best solution would be to give the Headline a little stand of it’s own somewhere.
Obviously, if it sounds good to you as it is now and you don’t want to change your layout, you shouldn’t worry too much about it. Life’s too short.

I’d just hide the Napsc on the floor round the back. The performance of the Headline is compromised by placing it on the Napsc so it depends whether sound or show is most important to you.
