System Pics 2021

Maybe you view the Forum through dark glasses. They are natural oak, and always have been!

I bet the Exact is really nice through the Rega stage. Bravo!

It’s very good through the Supernait’s built in stage too! It’s a very musical cartridge, if you’ll pardon the overused description.

Good to hear. I thought you had a Rega stage. My mistake, sorry.

I had a Fono MC when I had the 272, but sold it when I got the Supernait and swapped to MM cartridges. Out with superfluous boxes!

It was a pleasure for us too… Beautiful countryside, then we visited Montreux. I ignored that a 3 mt. tall statue of Freddy Mercury was in front of the Casino.
I’m enjoying…
Thanks

Thanks. I have (at least) 2 fond memories of Montreux… as a ‘pit-stop’ as we cycled around lac Leman (a leisurely 180 Kms), which we did 3/4 times a year; and dinner at the Grand Hotel…
Take care.

Bit of “Misty in Roots” in the CD player…

I thought everything had to be 3.5m minimum :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
This forum can be very confusing

What made you switch from the 2M? Can you describe the difference?

Thanks

I gave the background on the what have you bought thread.

Just read it, thanks! Anything you can share on the difference in sound/character?

The N-Sats have limitations but do so many things right. I listened to a bunch a speakers and the only ones that gave me the itch to upgrade were the ATC’s

Sorry, Google says it’s ‘close to ten feet’. Inductance seen by the ground (or the sky) is probably enough.

Quick update on the Sony ES project system - replaced the cassette deck, out goes the TA-K667ES and in with a TA-K870ES. The components are now finished.

I have decided to put the amp on top, partly as it’s easier to access the volume control but also as it adds a bit of visual interest as you can see the components through the top grille, some of which are ES branded.

Next steps are to sort out the cabling and then wooden side panels

That looks awesome, probably sounds just as great, is a shrine to a definite look/period in HiFi, must have been incredibly satisfying to assemble!

Can I ask what made you do it in the first place?

What an awesome project. Will be amazing to see how it all sounds. What speakers are you putting with it?

Ready with Spendor A4 Testing. And now? Geithain ME150

A German manufacturer that is is not mentioned often here. It is sold in Germany as very suitable for Naim. Have several retailers already told me that this combination is a great fit?

I will give a Feedback concerning Spendor, geithain and my T&A in a Nova Thread

That’s a good question! Lots of reasons really, something to do in lockdown and being a bit of a Sony fan are high on the list. I chose this brochure to choose from so the components would all match.
But maybe the main reason would be to build a period hifi stack, the sort that I used to drool over when I used to walk up and down Tottenham Court Road when I was a teenager.

I also wanted to build a system that did more than just play music. You really can tinker with this system, I have all the manuals for the various components so I can learn how to make a DAT mix tape, or how to programme track names in the CD memory, or learn how to record on a quality tape deck.
