I have an Aria on my LP12. It replaced a Stageline powered by a 252/Supercap and is a substantial improvement so it should be superior to the built in phono stage in your amp. Are you tempted to lower the wall shelf a few inches now the hum has gone or would you rather avoid the resulting drilling and filling?
The main challenge is that the paint we used is discontinued, so any filling means a total redecoration of the room. The shelf does perhaps look a bit high but itās ok and we can live with it.
Thank you. What are your experiences? I am currently looking for speakers for Nova/ NAP250DR.
What I read is that A4 and A7 are good, D7.2 Not easy with Nova. I heard the A4, but falls back against Linn Majik140. Unfortunately, I canāt hear other spendors at home.
Iām guessing youāre using Farrow & Ball paint - as far as Iām aware all of their discontinued colours are still available to order.
This should never be a problem for any paint colour as all thatās needed is the correct code to put into the mixing machine and it will produce the colour you want.
I like the KS-1 but the only cable I can compare it against is its predecessor that I was running for 6 months with the system - WH Phantom. The Phantom was no slouch (it was an upgrade to the Chord Epic Twin I had before that) but the KS-1 improved the clarity of the treble for sure. I understand itās the same cable thatās used internally within the speakers too?
I know exactly what you mean, of course. In its favour itās made by Rega as the ideal support for their low mass decks and itās really easy to fit, unlike many wall shelves. Our speaker stands are hardly elegant, made purely for function. Iād like to think of the speaker stands and Rega bracket as industrial chic, built for performance rather than to feature in Ideal Home.
Iāve never been tempted to go back to vinyl. However, my biggest ever hifi āwowā moment (even more than a ND555) was when I was in my late teens and I hooked up a Rega Planar 3 to my NAD amp and Monitor Audio speakers. Funny how you remember these special momentsā¦
Hi Graham, i am not entirely sure it made a big difference moving the amps up. Without the empty basement it sure looks tidier but then this huge trafo does radiate sideways directly towards the bottom amp.
You also may find it advantageous to stack the amps and respective pss in a crisscross manner.
Amps Top Bass. Pss top tweet
Middle mid. Middle mid
Bottom tweet bottom bass
Not quite the same with S-600s as they arenāt three way, so one amp is for BMR, the other two are for bass.
Curious as to what benefit arises from mixing in this way as the PSUs are still physically close to a head unit although not the one they are directly powering. Havenāt heard of someone doing this before, can you elaborate?
Many paint stores also have a digital tool that can be placed on a painted wall and analyzes the colour and determines the formulation needed to achieve the same result. In the USA Sherwin-Williams makes such a tool.
