The (half) wavelength of the sound sets the scale for what makes a difference here, for diffraction (not reflection, per the comment by @davidng) effects. A 5 kHz wave is just over 2”; 10 kHz about 1.5”; 15 kHz just under 1”. So, “small changes in placement” are relative to “important length scales” of roughly one inch… cool, eh? Not the only factor, of course, but a consideration in the overall modeling, design, and performance.
Previously, I had everything split into two stacks, both centered between the speakers, but it was nearly impossible to keep the cables tidy and out of sight. With a single stack, I thought this was the best way to make use of the second base.
I saw recently the original trailer, and thought: nobody does this type of trailer anymore.

Especially at @MattCray’s space. They look divine with all the clean straight lines in the room and contrasting with white / light colours. That said, of course SQ is more important.
