It’s the dedicated power supply. One of the earliest types with a selector for alternative head units that never made it to market. Totally useless switch but a nice reminder of the development history.
The boxes on the adjacent stack, same level are Snaxo (left) and Superline.
Loving my system!
Home made speakers. Fusion (Troels gravesen design). Cannot recommend these designs enough. Balanced and non fatiguing sound that just sounds right, and I must say, matches very well with Naim gear.
Amp: Naim Atom. Awesome amp and it has changed my whole perception on the amount of watts that are actually needed.
Speakers are soon to be upgraded with hypex 500 watt N core class D plate amp for the bass driver leaving the atom for mid/tweeter. This should give the Atom much more headroom and enable louder volumes and especially movie bass.
I Will upgrade amp and source one day but I am a speakers first kind of person seen as I can build something like this and save $$$.
This setup gives me huge sound wall, rock solid imaging and low distortion (as long as I keep the volume reasonable), and great low volume playback with really good bass presence and detail.
I definitely won’t be moving away from a Naim based system for a while… it has improved my music enjoyment no end!!
Cabin system has a new addition, Musical Fidelity MX-Dac, hooked up via the Rega on spinning duties, letting it bed in but first impressions favourable.
I dont think I posted in System Pics 2020, finally got round to it for 2021!
Nothing much has changed hardware wise, or even visually, from 2019, but a few tweaks in the background…
EtherREGEN added
Paul Hynes PS added for the ER
Chord Signature SA streaming cables added downstream from switch
Innuos Zen upgraded to Zenith (as an upgrade rather than swapping units)
HAF filters added via Roon
So its all tweakery really but I am really enjoying the music at the moment.
Nothing really changes in my system.
The 272/200 replaced 102/180 about 5 years ago.
New cartridge last year.
And that’s about it over the last decade…
Though every time I do take a pic, I’m reminded I should dust it a bit more thoroughly.
Thanks FR, your place doesn’t look too shabby either
When I have installed each of the changes, including the Paul Hynes, I have noticed changes for the better for sure.
And of course then it all merges together and you can’t remember how it sounded before!
With all the talk between fancy switches, and then on the Roon forum the thread saying audiophile switches are all BS, I do intend to remove the switch/power supply at some point and listen without again, just to do a sense check and make sure!
