System Pics 2022

Gosh; two months in and this new system is really starting to sing. The D’agostino amp really is a special bit of kit.

How can you tell, with that enormous glass passive radiator between your speakers?

Andrew

I threw a blanket over my TV once, which is also between the speakers. Couldn’t hear any difference at all but I did get some very odd looks from the rest of the family.

I hope it was an inky black blanket.

Agreed I have never heard these dramatic differences either. I consider this a significant advantage.

I have a room that is actualy ‘L’ shaped but in the bit I use for the hi fi is 3.2m wide and about 6m long, the listening position about 4m from the speaker end of the room. I had a chair on the LH side of the room that mimics the position of your record storage and Hungry Halibut is right about trying to move them elsewhere. I had to buy a new sofa!

It has zero impact on sound.

We all at what we hear. To my ears in my house, this sort of things can affect the sound quite a bit, but of course you need to live in the room too.

So, have you done blind listening tests, with a TV in place, and without? If not, you’re invited round to mine, and we’ll see if there is a noticeable AUDIBLE difference. All are welcome. I might even provide sandwiches :grinning:

TV, no. End of sofa, yes - in my old house. The non-ideal-ness was not subject to a blind test (hard with a sofa), but to the stern test that comes from asking younger and non-hifi ears if A sounds different from B. Playing at no-conversation volume showed that lots of obtrusive soft stuff affected bass tightness & punch a bit and stereo separation rather more.

Bacon and Avocado are a current favourite of mine. Not that I think I need convincing

I remain utterly unconvinced. The offer of sandwiches is still there…

We don’t have avocados in the North East! Ham and pease pudding stotties only. :grinning:

Wey aye man!! (Just a nod to a fellow Geordie).

I quite agree a TV does make a difference. And, with much younger ears, I heard the demo of a watch with a beeper make a difference. Life is a comprise but that is also why my TV is pushed as far back as possible to minimise the interaction. I don’t wear a watch!

That’ll do

There’s just a lot of nonsense on this forum; tightening FRAIM connectors; TV placement; cable dressing; stressing Burndys; cables touching; brain v brawn etc. etc….

How much of it all adversely affects sound quality AUDIBLY? Some maybe, but certainly not all; some of the forum-perpetuated myths make me laugh. Enjoy the music.

I barely manage to dress myself some days let alone any cables.

I’d love that amp! No question that you have enough power.

Whilst some of the “criticisms” on this forum are well-intentioned, too often the hifi seems to be treated as a shrine, not a leisure pursuit.
