Thank you very much! Oh, I didn’t know the the “zig-zag” ist preferable to the my coil - I thought the coil is the best possibility :-))))) Maybe I try this in the near future (and listen). On the other side - I never noticed any (not the slightest) problems oder anything.
The official recommendation for the Hawks is a distance of (!) min. 30 cm (min. 12 inches) to all sides / all around - I tested and listened a lot and in my opinion this is absolute true - the speakers need “room” - only then the speakers sound really balanced, clear, open and enjoyable / pleasurable. However - the Hawks are “Divas”. (Bevor I bought the second hand Hawks (10 years ago) at a dealer I listende to them at a perfect furnished listening room on an equipment form electrocompaniet - the sound was the best I ever heart - in my living room the sound is very good - but only half as good as listened back then.) The Hawks are very sensitive on the distance apart the two speakers - not to wide - not too far. What I miss is the enormous “3D-Sound” of the Hawks - but for this the Uniti (1) is simple to small / elementary - there you will just need a better equipment / configuration. In my room the Hawks have a distance to the back wall of an about 42,5 cm (16,5 inches) - for my ears the best result / compromise. Thank you!
This is the device that sucked me into Naim, my Mu-So gen 1.
A few years ago, I went to John Lewis’ for a Bluetooth speaker and came home with this.
Which then led me on to Naim amplification.
the road to perdition
However many of us started with much smaller Naim systems than we have today.
I jumped in pretty hard this year.
I had wanted to own Naim kit for many, MANY, years, but always shied away.
This year I took the decision and jumped in with both feet!!
Latest pic with subtle change (looks-wise) trading in Ndx2 for ND555.
Not such a subtle change in sound quality
Finally reached top of my mountain with complete 500 system into my Kudos Titan T88s.
40 years of Naim and I think no more “what if’s”

Until the new classic series come 2023
Lovely system and well done. I would try and re-arrange the fraim. I would put the medium shelf at the lowest point with the 500 head unit. Above that leave a shelf gap between ND555 and 552. The 552 best at the top of the fraim.
Ears?
ThanksGazza, Understood but with my set up now, empty bottom shelves allow no burndy, snaic, or interconnect to touch the floor.
My 552 at top.
System hooked up for about a week, not ready to start disassembling again.
Will let it settle in.
Quite impressed with the degree of improvement with nd555 over ndx2 with 555drps.

Thats understood……difficult enough just getting there….
put the slippers on and just enjoy.
I thought so too, then “what if” I try a 2nd PS on the ND…
Not going there Elfer……
Sounds familiar
Chris Murphy New Zealand serviced. I have some 08 Black SL2 on 7 meters Nac 5 running under my house to another room.
Bucket list, Nap 500 although the 135 do a very good enough job, Im know a 500 has more grip and transparency but then a 4 pack 135 sl2 combo
Isn’t it good to know our ancestors had access to machines that make you feel the way you want to feel😊
An absolute musical music machine.
You were lucky………
Very nice system. I did the step from NDX 2 with XPS DR to 555 three years ago. In my case the upgrade to 555 was the smallest step of all upgrades to a complete 500 system. In order of influence to sound quality:
272 with XPS DR to 552 DR, NDX 2 with XPS DR
300 non DR to 500 DR
NDX 2 with XPS DR to 555
For me the change from NDX2/555 to ND555/555 was a big as going from 52 to 552dr and actually more of a change than going form 135s (olive) to 500 dr.
I am happy with all 3 500 series - streamer, preamp and amp. The upgrade to ND555 was the most surprising as I did not really expect the degree of improvement made by simply substituting the ND555 for NDX2 - both with 555drps. System balance is important but source first is still a good path to follow.

All in all, these are very subjective sensations. However, I think that the improvements in sound quality depend largely on which system you start from. I think a 52 performs better than the pre amp section of the 272. However, a series 500 system is a wonderful hifi system to enjoy the music you love.
