Hmmmm…I think I remember you saying something similar after you got your 552…and again after you got your 500…and now again after a 555? Sounds like history repeating itself.
Need I mention a 2nd 555PS? and of course, there are always the Statements!!! Jus’ sayin’…
@igahman It’s really all very easy. If you have any questions or problems just @ me and I will pick it up pretty quick and should be able to help (but bear in mind I am the other side of the world from you!).
Had a feeling u might comment on my impetuous tendencies.
Look forward to you hearing my system, even though slumming with a 500 system might be difficult for a man of your taste

@Elfer
Interesting comment, can I ask what you miss?
I suppose it is a 2-part answer. First of all, I loved the way they looked (along with the rest of my kit) on the 3 stacks of Fraim shelves; I thought it was an elegant look. Secondly, I felt at the time, that this would be the pinnacle of my upgrades. I was very proud to have such a system and of course I thought the performance was world class (which it was!) I was positive that I had achieved an end-game system. (CD555 w/ 2 555PSDR, 552DR, 500DR, along with my current TT, R2R, speakers and cables)
Then, just a couple of years later, an opportunity came along to purchase a full Statement system at less than 1/3 of the retail price. F#*K! I couldn’t resist. Now don’t get me wrong. the Statement is easily a superior system (as it should be, considering the cost) and it looks like a museum worthy piece of art. So, to be clear, I could not be happier with my new system, but occasionally, I get a twinge of nostalgia for those wonderful 500’s. I’ve posted pics of my system on a few different threads over the years, but here it is again, if interested…
LOL…I like to celebrate Xmas ( and Hanukah) all year round! And since you go by Ardbeg10y, you probably appreciate that there are 5 different Ardbegs on the shelf.
After an aborted attempt to sell my 272 and 555DR they were returned at my request by the local Wellington ex naim , now Linn dealer who was selling on my behalf. They reassembled two fraim levels I was also trying to sell. I had a spare standard fraim added to the stack between the 272 at top and the 555DR in the middle. The extra height has reduced by the strain on the burndy and got the 272 further away from the large 555 transformer. It sounds great straight from the box. Very happy and content. I think I’ll leave things be for a while.
Absolutely stunning system Mitch! I’m enjoying my 202/200 system with some listening fluids. Having a little glenfidich 14 tonight. Any recommendations for scotch. I’m really enjoying trying different ones
I take it that you are holding onto them now? There is a lot of used Naim gear for sale here at the moment, though I moved on a Uniti2 quickly. Funny, the Auckland dealer called me about a 555 he could get, I’m picking it was yours.
