System Pics 2022

Quite so. This shows very clearly why I gave up
on system pics; people are far happier posting mindless crap than making the effort to post pictures of their own setups. Which, you’d think, or rather hope, was the point of the thread.

A bit of banter is fine I think, however, it’s probably time now to get back to posting system pictures.

Macfisheries , there’s a blast from the past, like Woodhouses , Wimpy Bars etc.

I must admit about ten years ago, in Durban I came across a Wimpy Bar, the menu was exactly the same as fifty years ago.

I indulged , my only visit to a hamburger establishment since the peritonitis in 2004

I have just had a look. I like how you have located the ball bearings within a ‘cylinder’ - presumably to stop them moving too much? It looks very neat under the Atom.
Sorbothane is an option for me if I decide to upgrade from the Wilko furniture feet.

Bamboo is favoured by both Atacama and Quadraspire for their more expensive racks. You are correct that it is the construction of the material itself that provides beneficial properties. Unlike wooden planks, bamboo, being made up of lots of smaller bits glued together, is not a uniform material which helps control vibrations by having different resonance frequencies apparently. This is aided by the glue itself and with the largest Aptitlig, the three different layers being sandwiched together. Given their sizes and affordable pricing, it’s almost as if IKEA intended for the Aptitlig range to lead a double life as a HiFi support.

Do not be a snob! Ikea does its job and works well for many users…

Yes, I fully agree. The ball bearings from a local plumber shop had already a little depression in the middle. It is sufficient to prevent lateral displacement (we currently have no pets and no small children). The Uniti Atom is additionally stabilised by the cables that run past the TV bracket on the right and left. In the original thread it was suggested to widen the recess to get more stability. You are right. I bet Ikea are scratching their heads on why they are selling vast amounts of these chopping boards.

Thats a very nice telly too!

My experience of IKEA, and I admit it’s limited to one visit, was of walking a long way on a winding route past a lot of stuff that was of no interest, seeing something that might have done but thinking I might find better but when I didn’t it was a hell of a job to go back against the flow for a second look. In the end I found what I wanted elsewhere and have never ventured into IKEA again.

True - we live a long way from the nearest Ikea so anything we need we order and they deliver. All these chopping boards came in a pretty heavy box. I’m not a fan of the in-store experience that much.

The other IKEA items we have are a range of Kallax storage units and this very comfortable chair purchased second hand locally.

I ordered 11 in total of different sizes - they must think I do a lot of cooking😁

Love the cable lifters/organisers. They look better than any commercial ones I’ve seen :+1:
