My dealer has maintained, for some time, that one of the best systems he has ever heard belongs to a client of his who combines over £40,000 of Naim amplification (presumably an all 500 series) with ProAc Tabs.
The Tabs were used due to extreme space limits available for the system.
I have not heard it but do know that my dealer is not prone to exaggeration so I accept his view in this instance.
Anyone looking to accommodate 6 Classic boxes might like to know the new IKEA ‘Stockholm’ is ideal. It doesn’t require the back for stability, so cabling is no problem.
Although I’ve put the top-sliding doors on, they won’t close with the Naim boxes right to the front of the shelves. This is not an issue for me. If you slide the top boxes further back, the doors should close.
Japanese hifi porn alert. Just been to a friends for a very boozy bank holiday Saturday lunch. First time I have been to his house since pre-covid. During that time he has moved from LP12/Naim system to an SME turntable AND the most beautiful Luxman turntable. Backed by a Luxman amp/preamp/ phono stage/DAC plus Melco. All of this driving a pair of LS50 Meta’s. For those who deride monkfish systems - it is amazing what a superb system driving a pair of quality but affordable standmounts can do.
Edit - although I am encouraging him to audition a pair of Magico A1s
No - only got to listen to the SME today. My friend’s view is that although the Luxman is beautiful, it’s a bit off the SME. In fact, he still has the LP12 but rates the SME more highly
Your system looks lovely in that unit, but just out of curiosity, have you considered the performance gains to be had if it was on Fraim? You have some expensive kit and to me it seems a shame not to get the best from it by using a dedicated rack. With kit at this level I can’t believe you have not taken this into account so presumably it’s a conscious decision and trade-off, ie. you don’t like the look of Fraim. I note that you haven’t implemented any special isolation beneath the boxes either. Not in any way a criticism, I’m just curious (nosy I suppose) as to your reasons.
