System Pics 2022

Thanks @anon33182107 - Two main reasons for not choosing a dedicated support 1) No room 2) I prefer the hifi assimilated into the room and not ‘on display’ too much.

Thanks Graeme. I think you’ve achieved your goal absolutely. It’s important that when listening to music we feel at ease with our surroundings and I’m sure you do with your lovely room.

Very nice and stylish :+1:
I don’t how the K1 would cope with your room and aesthetics, but should do the trick.

I need help deciding if I fall into this category or not. Now, I know what a mullet system is, but what’s a monkfish?

At the moment only the flowers are new. Happy easter everybody!

A monkfish is an expensive front end/amp with cheap speakers whilst a mullet is cheaper front end/amp with much more expensive speakers

I really like the look of the Stockholm cabinet. If it was for the looks alone, I’d be happy to get rid of my Fraim and get one. I wonder what it’ll do for the SQ though. I don’t feel brave enough to do the experiment…

looks far better than fraim and less than 1/10 of the cost!
cables less obvious and maybe less prone to dust
VERY good choice

That’s quite a turntable. Luxman have in the past month done a re-release of the PD-151 as the MKII. Main difference seems to be the pre-fitting of a SEAC tonearm. MY dealer was trying to convince me to get the PD-171 to match with my amp but at 10x my turntable budget it was a non starter.

From what I’ve read, that PD-171 up there and the matching EQ-500 phono stage is aligned with some of the finest high end decks money can buy.

Unfortunately I only got to hear the SME but certainly the Luxman is one of the most attractive turntables that I have ever seen (take note Naim)

Im a very happy monkfish system owner, albeit a very modest setup compared with many admirable systems here. I just cannot let my speakers go…ive tried honestly, they sound so nice.

Looking good! I might upgrade to Stockholm 2.0 . Seems to take the equipment weight better. And I would have two shelfs to spare for two more black boxes!

Thanks. Yes, the cantilever principle with the legs inset reduces the load on the middle.

Stunning system. :+1:
Another IKEA chopping board!

Nice setup ,my system is similar the 300dr will sound better in time. I found with mine it gets deep in the recording which the 250 not so much but the 250 is a fine amp i had the 250dr before the 300dr and it is impressive the difference between the 2 amps.

Yes. I wasn’t expecting such an obvious upgrade, even out of the box. 48h for the initial settle my dealer said. I reckon about 3 months after that for completely consistent replay.

Loving it.

Thx, was going to ask…

A monkfish makes far more sense … especially if room size is an issue

I’ve just taken a gander at your profile. It includes sources and cables but no amplifier or speakers. That’s a very extreme source first approach!

399 Euros and a ride to IKEA — surely you have made much costlier experiments in your Hi-Fi life…

P.S. I wouldn’t hesitate if Stockholm was available in Oak. My boxes “hum”, and I rather like Stockholm’s doors. Open when playing, and shut the doors when not in action… And everything looks “clean” — well, except for the speakers. Those are difficult to hide…
