Who’ve thought styling from such different eras would blend together so well.
A little up date on progress with the modifications to my Sony TC-209 SD cassette deck, there is now a big hole where the cassette unit used to be, I’m not going to show you pictures of this yet because its not pretty, (I have yet to ‘retrim the opening’), but I can show you a picture of the original ff/play/stop/rew/rec/pause ‘piano keys’ which i have recovered from the mech and which now operate micro switches with which i shall link up to my RPi streamer to provide similar functions to the original cassette mech! I shall have to decide what to use the ‘record key’ for, ‘Mute’ is my front runner.
Keys assembly is upside down to show workings.
Fantastic - I think this deserves a separate thread if you don’t mind sharing more pictures of your progress ?
Looks like a fun project so I’m looking forward to reading further updates
I did wonder if System pics was the right place.
TBH. I have been a bit coy about my project ever since Richard mentioned that it would be a shame to hack the Sony, part of me shares his view, but I am not sure how much use it would have got had I repaired it as a cassette deck.
I’m not complaining - just that it deserves a thread of its own so it doesn’t get lost in all the system pics. I can understand the reluctance to hack at a decent deck, but if it’s going to get repurposed in this way and get used, then why not.
Hi @james_n if it turns out well I may well do as you suggest, if it doesn’t, I may be ostracised from the forum! :0)
Good point
A domestic DAT deck!
Well played, sir, well played.
Naim really got it right with the design of the SL2.
A very elegant speaker and they obviously sound fantastic.
The icing on cake…they are designed to work up against the wall and so are room friendly too !
I completely agree James Naim got the SL2 right even though it cost them to design and build the 349 pairs I read somewhere that Naim probably lost money with the SL2, I’m lucky to own a pair
Looks like I have started a thing.
Some great sunlit photos of speakers, very moody.
Striking!
Hi Per (?), can I ask what your amplification is, as it doesn’t look like a 202/200 please? MH Peter
Although have just noticed that I’ve got Spider-Man putting in an appearance in the speaker gloss.
Great shot
Def better than socks!
I think that’s the Living Room system and a Moon integrated
Looks rather nice
Your secret’s out Mr Parker!
