Much the same in the UK.
Youâve done very well there, I recall your Supernait stages!
Doesnât say much for Naim that a cheap âgames stationâ with a power supply can be better than a CD555
I had the dedicated mains (3 double MK unswitched sockets) installed behind the left side of the brain rack and took the opportunity to run the speaker cable under the floor. We have an âundercroftâ with about 3-4 feet of room under the ground floor so it was perfectly doable. Iâm pleased to have got that done as itâs much neater not having the cable running across the floor behind the Heritage Specials.
@Yorkshireman. You donât subscribe to the Linn â single speakerâ dem room theory then.
Where might one get such a power supplyđ¤
Could a hole at the back hide them even better?
The NDX2/XPSDR/282/SCDR work fantastic together. The 252 is more source/system dependent and adding one may throw off the goodness adding more expense!
Adding the 252 was great with my near Klimax Spec LP12 but threw off the streaming side so I had to adjust that and then comes the âI need a 300DR or 250.3.â
That is the back, the driver you can see is the rear facing passive radiator on a Shahinian Arc.
Iâm awaiting delivery of a used original Xbox One today (ÂŁ50 inc. postage with two wireless controllers) less ÂŁ25 I got for my old 360 and ÂŁ45 I just got for an old camera Iâm quids in so far (Isnât eBay great!). Iâll then be able to do an A/B comparison with my Denon SACD player and Project Xpack. I might even post a new pic.
What funâŚ
I am currently watching a couple of nDacâs and nDac V1âs to replace my Dragonfly.
Will definitely move the goal posts on an A/B test of PS1 vs Streaming I think
(Annoyingly, purchase on hold due to a temporary dirth of funds⌠BLOODY WEDDING!)
I agreed this arrangement with my dealer after some discussion Nick. I am happy with it as is but interested what you had in mind. Currently top to bottom:
NDX2. LP12
Radikal. 252
Headline. 42 unused.
Super cap. PS555
300. 300PS
It looks very sensible and I am no expert. I am usually happy to leave comments on this stuff to others (hello @HungryHalibut ) with more experience of how it all works.
Having said that, in my system, I found that getting the Supercap as far as possible from the preamp was good. I also fund having the latter (a 52 in my case) on the left and at least a smidgeon away from the phono stage made for a quieter background.
When the Radikal replaced the Lingo 4, I was annoyed by a tiny bit of hum, and some definite mush if you know what I mean. Getting rid of the hum meant plugging the Radikal into the house ring-main, not the dedicated radial powering the Naim boxes via a Hydra. The mush was fixed by moving the Radikal from not far below the LP12 to actually on the floor, so about 3 feet from the LP12 and the phono stage - not sure why that helped but it did in my case.
With a Urika instead of a Superline, you have one thing fewer to worry about, but you could try: -
NDX2. LP12
252. 42
Headline. Radikal
PS555. Supercap
300. 300PS
You could swap 252 and NDX2, but Iâd be surprised if it made any acoustic difference.
Any more radical change would probably involve a wall shelf for the LP12, which is a lot trickier to swap back if you decide you donât like it/ canât hear any difference.
My concern would be that the TT is so close to the speaker. I wonder if it would be better on the left? If you have lots of boxes there will almost inevitably be compromises, unless you have a large room and very deep pockets.
Here is mine, with our new fireplace. There was a bit of work for me to do, fixing the skirting boards and sorting out the plaster, but itâs all worked out fine, after a good number of hours on my hands and knees. We just need a new clock and it will be finished.
Whatâs happened to the nice lamp?
Aha! Nice spot
Do you no longer have the glass plate under the Nova?
