The D20Rs start to run out of steam at about 40Hz, so for some music there’s a bit more to go. More than that though, I personally like the improved soundstage and imaging that I think is added, but that’s a discussion for a different thread.
Interesting - ProAc has them rated down to 28 Hz, but obviously, the reality is different. The Response D2s are also rated to 28 Hz, and when I had them, I didn’t feel I needed a sub until I put them in a really large space, and I got the ProAc sub.
Ok, my ‘new’ system decomposed:
I had the TEAC VRDS-9 professionally painted. It’s a constant source of good mood. It will be wired into the SN1’s own DAC. I still need a Stageline. And what else?
Ah yes. Speakers.
These, if I ever find a pair exactly so:
or else, I have no idea.

I measured them in my room, here: Subwoofer - An itch worth scratching? - #56 by WeekendWarrior
Difficult to separate the speaker from the room, but at 30Hz the D20Rs had dropped 10db compared to 40Hz. It could be that the 40Hz peak was a room mode of course and that the speakers were performing as per spec. Regardless of whether it was a room mode or speaker tail off, the sub fixed it.
Ahh! The SuperNait 1, must get mine serviced…
I want to be able to turn mine on first… ; No speakers yet.
Surely I can’t look for a pair of n-Sats, can I?
Actually if you can find some, they work very well with the SuperNait 1. I had a pair for a while, but you really do need a sub as well, but on their own they still boogie. In fact why not try and pick up a pair of SBL’s, good value these days, again if you can find them.

Is the DAC pedal powered?
Correct.
I work in a webshop selling bike parts.
Have changed my speakers to Focal Sopra 2s and moved some furniture around. Next stage will be decoration when I get time. The improved sound of the speakers from Focal Aria 936s is immense. Enjoying wider soundstage and greater clarity particularly from the NDS. The Sopra 2s are very capable speakers!
The setup looks fantastic Dan and I bet its sounds ace
Also so much more space within your living area this has to be a good thing for the Focal Sopra.
I’ve brought the speakers out about 2 feet from the back wall. They have space to breathe. Changing the furniture and layout of the room has had a big impact. It sounds open and full. The Sopras are a work of art and weigh 70kg each. Managed to get them in the house from Leicester by myself!
The sound is solid, open, the soundstage wide. The bass is like a brick through a window. The mids are detailed and the tweeter so tuneful. This goes to show with quality Naim electronics, investing in high quality speakers will deliver an amazing sound.
I couldn’t be happier with the system at the moment. Sitting back and enjoying the room being filled with an amazing sound !
70kg each, wow!! makes my SL2s lightweights
Mind you I setup the 500 series this evening SL2s now stand to attention.
They are similar in size to the Focal Aria 936s but there must be alot of engineering in the Sopra 2s. They sound so solid and are beautifully made. I really rate them and glad I purchased them. Got them for a steal as well.
And as a builder I listened to @Mike_S and went for concrete finish. If he hadn’t of said this would have gone for black gloss. So glad I went for the finish that I did. Gorgeous looking speakers and it has completely transformed my system by a big increment! I would say sounds 30% better, maybe more.
I bet they do. You have a glorious system.
What do your neighbours think of them ? Or have you not turned them up yet?
I am blasting the speakers with hard techno. I live at the end of a cal de sac in a linked detached house. The houses are linked by garages. No complaints so far and had a massive party last week.
The neighbours won’t say anything as the music is generally off from 9pm most days and then a watch TV. The AV system is all connected up to the Sopras and it sounds amazing too.
Loving the sound, the increased volume and the new set up in the room. It’s now very focused on the system. More of a listening room. The acoustics sound so much better with the speakers brought out from the walls.
I would recommend to anyone when considering upgrades to look at your speakers and if they can improve your system.
There is a separate thread I created about my potential upgrades with 52, 252, 552 or LP12 upgrades and in the end I didn’t do any of those but changed out speakers instead with soectacular results.
Graham Slee Reflex , a very nice phono stage.
I am wondering how it competes with my new Phono Stage built into the Nait 50
Edit - it’s very good , the Graham Slee now packed up in it’s box, It’s not an item to be got rid of
