Sopra 2’s are 55kg/each and Sopra 3’s are 70kg/each.

Have you factored in the concrete :joy:

I can’t lift them regardless

I don’t think that @Musicraft has factored that in. They are are defintely 70kg

It’s a good phono stage. Would prefer Radikal and Urika in time to make things look neater and hopefully sound alot better. But yes, it sounds great.

I thought you might be amused to see this excerpt of an ad from a well-known US dealer:

Focal Sopra No2 Loudspeakers (each)
$10,499
Qualifies for free shipping

It’s the “each” that makes me chortle.

I got mine less than half price for mint Sopra 2s, 6 months old, so burned in. It looks like noone pays full price for them at £14000.

Makes me shake my head! I’ve often been tempted to try to buy just a single speaker with the full expectation of being told they only sell them in pairs.

I used to have some big speakers like that. Kef Concertos.

Depending on your floor you may get rather too much bass. Mine improved when I constructed some spiked platforms for them to sit on.

We all know why they do it. They want suckers to see the dollars but not the word “each.” Does anyone fall for that sh!t? Probably, if other, unspecified, behaviour is a guide.

Is that not for the home cinema market where someone might need 4?

Ooooo. Once I covetted it but it was difficult to source in the US. I have not even seen on in captivity!

Yep with you on this :+1:

I added these spikes and they made an immediate improvement - more about tightening the bass than reducing it here though. They’re on carpet over concrete floor.

Surprisingly well-engineered and weighty for £20 off Amazon.

No. It’s been that way since before the advent of home cinema.

They look a bit fancier than what I used. I had wooden floor with a basement. The sound was really loud down there.

Get in! Loving that Sir. I think the Sopra 2 is a fantastic speaker and when well setup in a decent system, are stunning. There are a lot of nay-sayers about Focal, but I love them. I’m a little bit jealous! Congrats and so pleased you’re enjoying your system, that’s what it’s about right, you enjoying your system!

Fantastic @Dan_M ! The different tweeter will make a noticeable change, I’m sure. How’s the sound in the mids and bass from the “W” cone material compared to the flax?

Hi Dan - so glad you are thrilled with the new speakers. I have heard the Sopra 2s at my dealer’s many times and they are indeed fantastic. And they look wonderful. As you say, extremely solid bass. Enjoy!

The overall sound is different immediately between the two speakers. The Sopra 2 s are improved across all frequency ranges. There is greater depth of sound with more clarity. The sound travels further.

The highs are clearer and sweeter. The mids have more distinction., depth and fullness. Lyrics seem to have a fuller range and musical instruments more detail. The lows are deeper and have more reaonance. The overall sound is richer and has more texture. The soundstage is wider. I can hear more of everything now.

The speakers are alot better. Some say Focals are bright. The Sopra 2s definitely are not. Overall the speakers are better than what I thought they would be. I am very happy with them.

I don’t get how you can slate the Sopra 2s. They are very capable and are very high quality in how they are made. Maybe looks are too bold for some but the sound is awesome.
