I am currently living temporarily in the UK and got myself a technics and muso for my bolthole. It has massively exceeded my expectations. I have pimped the turntable with a goldring 1042 (from my drawer back in Hungary) and a Collaro mat (bought for my lp12 but its staying here for the duration)
I think, say, the orangey/yellow Sopras look better with the grilles on; with your concrete-looking speakers I think marginally grills off.
Iāve never heard them, but they do look well-made!
Thatās a listener rather than a speaker isnāt it?
Nice. Did you ever compare a 250DR and the NC 250 with the ATC SCM40? Would be interesting to hear your impression of the result.
Regards
Focal and Naim work so well together, I had sopra 1 then upgraded to diablo utopia, thats how impressed i was with the sopras, iv always had dynaudio in the past. bet your system is sounding awesome
Hi @Damien0 it sounds awesome. Loving it. Couldnāt be happier with the sound. How are you getting on with the Diablo Utopias?
Evening Dan, They are so good. the sopra 1 has a little more weight because they are rear ported but these diablos are so real, 3 dimentional, detailed without be harsh in any way. more refined i would say. again like you i got a really good deal on them. i have a similar system to you by the looks of it too.
nds 555, 252 supercap dr, 300dr over two stacks
Thatās fine. Upgrade at your own pace. Itās not like the Sopras sound horrible without them.
Iāve been wanting to get my vinyl collection set up with my system and to have it looking like a music room, so went from this:
To this:
I had to negotiate with Mrs Mike to move the drawers and photo copier to the other side of the room, but she is really happy with the result as she has been encouraging the vinyl resurgence and I think this is much better set-up.
I demoed them with a 250DR. Didnāt compare back to back.
Possibly. Its a sound mirror so a bit of both.
Much better
Thank you sweetie.
I have to admit thatā¦wellā¦Iāve changed my mind about Naimās 'crete anni system. I now really like it.
Thatās a nice looking and simple system
It has challenged my prejudices about direct drive turntables. It doesnāt temp me to change my set up at home but it helps make life more pleasant away from home for sure.
Seen some good reports on it, your system intrigued me because as a turntable with a better cartridge (say an Ortofon Bronze )that would be rather good with a Uniti product as well as a Muso
Just for fun @110dB hereās the 180 year experience system! Nait 50, 50th anniversary Planar 3 and some 80th anniversary Wharfedale Dentons
I had a 5 meter pair of QED cables that I bought to change the system layout and get the electronics to one side of my room.
Earlier on I had the system between the speakers and was running 2 meter NAC A5 cables.
I was feeling I had lost something and therefore I bought longer A5 cables. I am happy to report that I am back to a nice place.
Again my stereo grabs my attention and sometimes it is difficult to do other things like looking at a screen or reading stereophile.
There is more foot tapping and more air guitar. I look to the stage more and my imagination flies.
The music is more out of the speakers and sometimes our of the room, again sometimes is like a group is playing in the street and the music comes inside from the balcony.
There is a wow moment every now and then.
I could go through the matrix of highs, mediums and lows, and then extension, detail, air, stage and so on, but this would be subjective.
I prefer to keep to the facts, my friends and family comment the stereo is sounding very good, that is very objective.
I have a SuperUniti and a NAP 200, where should I go from here?
