Fascinating. I’d imagined it would be some sort of clever laminate. Do you know if the concrete finish really does weigh more than the 55kg standard versions?

These concrete finishes are applied by craftspeople hence why in the main they cost more than the standard finishes. They don’t feel more than 55kg. I’ll look into this further and get back.

Look guys I was joking around. I am sure they are 55kg. They just feel like lead weights. Bit of light relief was my aim ! Hope know one took it seriously about reinforcing floor. Everything is fine with speakers. You can never tell on messages what someones intentions are. So just to set the slate clean. I was only joking

Possibly something along the lines of micro cement - we have the bathrooms and the kitchen splash backs in micro cement - it’s just a very fine skim. The painters are trained to apply it.

I think it costs about £500 for Sopra 2s. Expensive gear. Maybe in the future. Then there are the carpet additions costing more on top.

I was told by dealer who I bought them from that they would be a good upgrade tbf.

But for now I don’t want to spend any more money.

I reckon it’s thicker than a skim. Maybe similar to the company that makes concrete speakers. The fronts of speakers are more like wood effect. The sides and back are concrete finish. The attention to detail, however they do it is impressive.

I was in a snazzy tile shop last week, the ‘artificial’ or faux finishes available now are incredible, they’re effectively porcelain tiles but are apparently ‘printed’ with various finishes - you name it - concrete effect, aged limestone or marble etc and even a very convincing wood, they’ve come on a long way recently and no longer look cheap and nasty, some similar techniques could be at work here

Did you specifically seek out that version/finish or was it more a case of buying on price?
I always quite fancied the standmount diablo in one of the more shocking colour schemes.

Im a plasterer by trade I’m perplexed at what you have said regarding 100 mm over plaster board this cannot be achieved

You could shutter it off and pour in and use rods to anchor to main wall. It’s possible, but I was joking. The whole thread has been very tongue in cheek.

Do you think Fraim would take it? Might need a patch repair.

Maybe an improvement on Keel subchassis?

The Diablo Chameleon by any chance? A thing of beauty.

Maybe good for my garden? Could run an extra switch to play music with that speaker. Might be a problem getting it in though!

I was going for black gloss but @Mike_S suggested as I am a builder to go for concrete finish. They looked good and so I sought them out.

I was offered orange from dealer as well but went for concrete. I think they are quite neutral and will blend with many decorative finishes.

I keep changing the Sopras from grills on to grills off. They look more complete with grills on and it protects them better. But they look so good with grills off, probably better. And then when my 2 year old son is here grills need to be on. Its an on and off thing! Good thing is they always look good.
