I think I heard these at the North West Audio show (I stand to be corrected) fronted by an SME turntable/arm as well as Computer Audio Design digital equipment. They sounded very good to me, one of the best setups of show, especially with Computer Audio Design which in my opinion bettered the analogue source. They looked very different and fabulous in my opinion.
Itās becoming more popular.
47Labs Koma has it first then Kronos Pro also use a magnetic counter platter.
Looks fine to me as does the space. I didnāt know you could have two tonearms. Pretty cool.
I see. Whatās the resigning behind it?
My TT is just a massive steel flywheel with a big POM platter sitting on it. The TT is 53 lbs without the tonearms, and most of that weight is the flywheel and platter.
Iāve seen turntables with three tonearms too. I have a use for two, but I still need to sort out what Iām going to do about a phono-stage. Iāll have to swap RCA leads on my Superline in the meantime.
My Cyrus Phono Signature with PSX R2 Power Supply, has 4 inputs all of which are MM/MC switchable and configurable from the remote.
It also sounds superbā¦
I donāt yet have a budget but under consideration is a second Superline, or sell the Superline/SCDR I have and get an entirely new phono-stage. I expect to audition the Boulder 1108 in September as one option, albeit a very expensive one.
Thanks for pointing out the Cyrus Phono Signature, but Iām really looking in a different league. It would be pointless for me to spend all that money I just did on a turntable upgrade, and then downgrade from my current $15k phono-stage to a $2400 ($3700 with PSU) one, just to get multiple inputs. I need to stay at the same level of performance or higher.
I get that, I wasnāt suggesting for one moment that it would be the right solution for you.
I suspect your solution will cost much the same as my whole systemā¦
LOLā¦yeah that Boulder 1108 retails for about $20k.
Maybe also consider the WHEST phono stages. Some here have them and found a considerable uplift vs Superline/ Supercap. They have 2 outputs too. The Pro Titan is around 13 k in GB.
Thanks, but I have no use for two outputs on a phono-stage. I need two inputs, and the WHEST phono stages (Pro Titan, etc.) only have one. The Boulder 1108 I have mentioned has two inputs, and they can be configured independently.
The Allnic Phono Stages have multiple inputs as well.
Yes, and they have a good reputation, but I really donāt want to fuss with valves. I have had two tube-based phono in the past. Both sounded great, and one had all kinds of reliability issues. Boulder or 2nd Superline are still top contenders.
Those Tannoys look superb. I bet they sound superb too. Lovely!
Listening to mine on my second system as I type.
I am so impressed with it. Streaming from my Mac mini, but it also is connected to the TVfor Multimedia duties. Fabulous piece of kit. How does it sound through that lovely Nait 50?
Sounds very good. There is a Lumin D2 in the sideboard and I will A/Bing between the two later (directly to the N50 and via the DAC V1) but at the moment I am just enjoying the music. A Mac (via USB) will occasionally be connected and a ChromeCast is in the sideboard which is hooked up for SoundCloud/Podcasts etc. A very nice piece of kit.
I was impressed how quickly my wife picked up how to use it, as the Media Room system is āHERSāā¦
Standard non meta black edition added to try with my Atc 11ās ā¦ incredible bass and out of the box soundā¦
Today I started out giving my new Tannoy Turnberry GR some lovinā by applying Liberon wax black bison for walnut. This is the same wax as Tannoy is sending along when bought new. My wife love the smell btw Also got me a wax brush from Clarks to apply it all. Made it more easy (and fun). Awaiting steel wool 0000 (trollull) to complete the final finish and then they are good to go for another year. Love how the wax give a more deep and dark finish to the walnut wood.
