Indeed, each to their own. I often see these dual arm setups, what is the attraction?
Looks amazing JDP and I bet it sounds even better.
Loving the Dynaudio’s too by the way…
@Sinewave, lovely looking system. Our Hi Fi rack shelf legs are taller than yours and yours rack looks much better. Would you mind telling me what height the legs are, please? I like the black legs with the oak shelves too.
At least it doesn’t look like a turntable from the fifties.
Some like different cartridges for different music. In my case, I have one tonearm with a stereo cartridge and the other is for use with a mono cartridge. I have quite a lot of mono records, and they sound better played with a mono cartridge.
Looks a great room, did you try the rel510’s on the outside of your speakers or just nit practical?
Gary
Thanks. My wife and I enjoy this space a lot.
There is really no space to site my RELs to the outside of my speakers (there’s a radiator to the left, and not enough space to the right that is beneficial). They work quite well where they are, and are pointed to the opposite corners for best loading of the room.
Lovely new deck! And will be really interesting to read how you get on with the dedicated mono cart, especially as the turntable will be a relatively neutral base with similar arms to compare the Lyra cartridges.
@Bozz88 - thank you for the words. Legs are 100mm which gives an aperture of 115mm with the spikes.
I had natural oak legs previously and considered painting them; but bit the bullet and bought a new set. I think black looks much smarter…
FWIW: Joe Harley (the Tone Poet, and curator of the Blue Note Tone Poet series, among other productions) also uses Lyra Atlas stereo and mono cartridges, on separate tonearms. If they’re good enough for him to evaluate test pressings then they should be good enough for me to get joy from my record collection. He told me he isn’t aware of anyone else but us two with that double Lyra Atlas rig.
Enjoy, I have a pair of stereo rel 510 and they work well.
Gary
Thanks for that - ours are oak too and the black is definitely a step up, really nice look.
It looks like it has a counter rotational sub platter, very interesting.
Very impressive record collection.
Media Room system (AKA Mrs QS’ System) is in and running.
It sounds really lovely. It’s been a very long time since my (her ) wonderful old Keilidh’s sounded this good…
I’m not sure what you mean by that. Are you saying you believe the sub-platter rotates in the opposite direction? If so, not that’s not the case. The table has a ceramic-magnetic bearing (CMB), with a 15mm stainless steel flywheel and a 70mm POM on top of that.
Or maybe I misunderstand what you mean.
Tannoy Turnberry GR has entered. I guess these cabinets are either love or hate but I’m bit bored with the classic modern stuff. I’ve been a sceptic in the past but with age (?) I’ve come to love them. Coming days I’ll give them some Tannoy Wax which will make them glow
How are these? The previous owner of my sbls got these as the replacement but I didn’t hear them. I guess they sound quite different.
I need to position them and put some feet on them (isoacoustics maybe?) before going into details But as always with Tannoy you will recognise the sound ID. Big, wide, deep, organic, relaxed, coherent. These go deeper than my Eatons that’s for sure. I just love these coax speakers
Yes, it does indeed, it looks kind of futuristic to me, but my type of a turntable would be a LP12, or Rega.
I think they are rather lovely.
