It works really well and I’m very happy with it.

Simply very cool :ok_hand::ok_hand:

Added an Audiolab CDT9000 into my ND555. Not sure when I last played one of my CDs, but it was very cool to drop Physical Graffiti in there and press play. I have the big box set, so when I have a few hours I may do back to back of streaming vs downloaded high res vs CD vs Vinyl.

Right now just happy to be playing a CD. Felt remarkably like putting a vinyl album on.

I had a Linn Kairn/Karik/LK100x2 active system playing into Kelidhs in the 90s which I loved at the time. It went into storage for various reasons and I bought a Naim system
(NaimUniti plus Spendor A5s). When I got the Linn system out of storage I couldn’t believe how bad it sounded - like a bag of spanners. Really closed in and lacking any kind of dynamics or detail. l’m amazed you find any mileage in the Kelidhs. Mine went to landfill.

I agree speakers have come a long way in that price bracket (adjusted for inflation). But I loved the Keilidhs. Passive, I’d expect them to be bested by a modern budget floorstander speaker in the 500 quid range. Though you won’t get the excellent veneer for that money.

I’ve also recently found that long term storage doesn’t do speakers any favours. While they don’t need weeks of running in again, the first two days after several years (much of that just above freezing) stored away is quite shocking. But they do open up again. While I’ve no doubt those Spendors and the amp in a Uniti bested them, is it possible the Keilidhs just needed the crossovers put back and a couple days of hard driving? Second hand they still fetch a couple hundred pounds; worth avoiding landfill for.

Fantastic move. How has the change improved the sound? I’m curious about the 282/300DR pairing.

Got the lovely 40th Anniversary Box Set of Rush - A Farewell To Kings there as well I see.
One of my all time favourite albums.

Hi, the set up is a heavily modded 9000 (high end clocks, power supply and as many Oscon, Silmic, Arizona, and other caps as I can fit in, its now very good as a player) to AV2 > 9 135’s, to a heavily modded mini DSP 10x10 that controls the 5 subs with 500W, 1000W peak amps (3 Sonus Faber Cremona, 2 18" BMS), the L,R also run via 32.5/Supecap and run 4 of the 135’s to L,R this was an Olive case so I sanded the edges. I also have another which will be added to the AV2 the silver marks on the Supercap let me know which 135’s do what just stuck on !

Speakers are Extrema Front, Cremona centre, Elector amator surround, auditor ellipse rear
Picture is 9000>Lumagen (clocked with LPS)>10500 epson, 134" Carada variable masking screen

I’ll take some pictures of the rear of the Extremas later. SF were kind enough to send me free some more ‘string’ for the centre that has sagged over time. I havent got round to that yet

Ofcourse, if your doors are inward opening, they would all need adjusting too.

No Neil, they’re outward opening doors🙂

We discovered this when we had new carpet laid and couldn’t close our bedroom doors :flushed::flushed::flushed:

My Keilidhs (Like my LP12), old on the outside, brand spanking new on the inside.

Thanks for that. An absolutely incredible set up. I assume the variable masking screen means you can alter the aspect ratio? When I had my projector it always bugged me that I couldn’t do this. With a set-up like this you obviously take your movies very seriously indeed. Thanks for sharing - it would be great to see a picture of the whole room!

I figure you’re a drummer QS? I am a guitarist, and was playing in a Rush cover band a couple of years ago. I saw Rush live in Québec for the Snakes and Arrows Tour. Awesome Canadian Band, and my all time prog rock favorite.

You are correct sir.
I never played drums for anyone but myself and was never particularly good.
Years ago, during college years, I used to sing in a band. We did the usual rock covers. No Rush songs though, I couldn’t do them justice😂

I only adjust the top and bottom bars and keep the width the same for any format, its a ‘clever’ pulley system with wrapped aluminium bars that are wrapped in sticky backed velour

Are your speakers covered because you throw food at the screen?

I have 5 of these they are the sub amps, these are very good indeed, I am dialled in down to 10Hz with a Harmon curve
