Naim HE & ZMF Caldera
That is a nice bonus of course. They were picked on sound of course and on demo I preferred them to pmc fact 12s and sopra 2s. Personal preference obviously, as those two are both hugely competent, but they are definitely more than a pretty face.
Wow, hadnât heard that, but can imagine it being the case. Maybe I need to get a shimmy on finding a pair of Diapasons before itâs too lateâŚ
Without knowing what you didnât get to, Iâm going to venture that you made the proper choice!
Nice Tron!
Is that a Stiletto too or simply a fluted black plinth?
FWIWâŚ
I have heard Hawks singing with 52 and 135s, but only in a big room - they really need space. The only time I heard Diapasons, they needed even more space, and even the Naim dealer agreed that the 136s would need replacing to make Diapasons a worthwhile upgrade.
Other earsâŚ
It is a dark ebony plinth made by Woodsong. Simply wonderful with a deep dark luster but it is like my black large poodle, difficult to make justice on photo.
I hear a lot about Gaiaâs and am intrigued.
I have Titan 606s on a solid wooden floor - would Gaiaâs have any effect? Or are they only really worth it on a suspended floor?
They helped under my Isobariks on a solid floor. Iâd say itâs worth a try if you can get them on demo or sale and return.
I suppose the simple answer to that would be, do you feel that the speakers have more to give if onlyâŚ
If on the other hand they sound wonderful and bring joy as they are, then ÂŁ1000 for fancy feet seems a bit unnecessaryđ¤ˇđťââď¸
For me, my Dynaudioâs always felt like they were out of control and doing their best to deliver something, but failing to do it in a manner that they were capable of. If only they could get a grip on the space and substance of their environment. The Gaias did that and what a wonderful revelatory moment it was too, when the first music came out after I had fitted them.
It looks lot me like youâve got something between the Fraim chips (or whatever spike foot youâre using) and the floor. If so, you could try listening without those before adding anything else.
A lot of Woodsong plinths are beautiful - seems like yours is too.
I suppose itâs one of those scenarios of âI donât know what I donât knowâ
Only by doing a home trial would I know if they improve anything.
The Titans come supplied with spikes from Track Audio. I then bought the Track Audio shoes to sit them in. There was an improvement when using the shoes.
Ok, sorry, I thought I could see something (squares of carpet?) under the âshoesâ. I use Naim Chips under mine, but have never tried them without as I didnât want to damage the floor.
Finally installed the second 300DR this week on low frequency in place of 250DR and after a couple of days of warm up now sitting back and soaking it up. Gorgeous. vinyl still of course superior but what is very pleasing is how much CDâs are improved. So fave albums that arenât (yet?) on vinyl like Tori Amosâs Scarletâs Walk sound amazing. Just need now maybe an SL 4-4 and I think Iâm done.
