System Pics 2023

I just have to ask LOL. Do you work? If I had that view, room, and sound system I don’t think I’d ever go anywheres else, and certainly couldn’t get any work done. Any way, thnx for the pic and Happy New Years (to everybody).

Thankfully Naim sends me a check every month for food and beer allowing me to stay home a listen to music.

I work as a cinematographer for advertising and documentary projects. Still photography is a hobby of sorts.

Sorry, first answer was done at speed. More complete answer is that firstly I have them both running of their own amps. The bottom pair of the b300 power amp and the top pair of the b100 integrated (Densen Beats). The amps are configured to run in bi-amp mode so the gain is matched.

Regarding the sound, the character is understandably the same, however the scale is much larger, instruments like piano take on real body and increased resonance.

Voices again grow in stature and the whole projection of the sound is much more effortless. Volume levels are increased for the same volume setting as running one pair, due I presume to the doubling of surface area being driven.

It’s a bit of fun really and seeing as Densens motto is “life’s too short for boring hi-fi” guess I’m dipping into that sentiment.

They do sound a touch more cohesive if you invert the top pair so that the tweeters are as close together as possible, when doing that I use a very small ball of bluetak at the corners for isolation.

Love the 505 and the painting!

Still the Magnepan LRS full-range (50Hz) ribbon speakers, I am having my new LRS+ fitted with the Mk7 MultiRiser stands which are rigid, lifts the speakers 5 cm from the floor and holds them vertical all of which improves the sound even more. I’ve never heard the 135s so happy and fast as with these Magnepans … well maybe SBLs.

Hi, just zoomed into the photo, I didn’t realise that you had already stacked the speakers. Thanks for the info.

very nice looking, I’m considering both aavik and mola mola to “downsize” and (possibly) eventually kudos t 606. Can you give some description of your aavik and 505 combination. How it sounds, and what your naim system was and how it compares .Planning to keep or change? The usual suspects. tia

If you click on my ID you’ll see my current system. The only thing being replaced this year will be the Denafrips Terminator II and Denafrips Hermes DDC. Great DAC and DDC but probably moving to an Aavik D-280 in a couple of months. I had a Naim 282/HCDR/250DR/NDX2 used the Terminator II in that system too. The Naim system was fine but a little too “overbearing” is the only word I can think of and not near as detailed and refined as I wanted. I also didn’t like the volume control of the Naim, not the level of control I was looking for. The sound seemed forced sometimes. The Aavik equipment to me is very detailed, refined almost delicate when needed, and powerful with excellent control over volume levels. It is great at low volumes and high volumes. Never bright or too much of anything. A very refined presence that let’s you hear every little nuance of the music. Huge soundstage and imagine, tight and controlled. You really need to hear the Aavik equipment. I can’t say enough about the Kudos 505s. Perfect speaker for me as I don’t sit in a sweet spot to listen to my music. Very easy placement requirements. The 505s are clear and controlled with a beautiful realistic presence, excellent top end and bass with a very balanced approach to the entire musical spectrum. I love them. I am going to listen to some Borresen speakers this year but honestly in my space I don’t see changing out the 505s. Hope this helps. Good luck on your changes.

Since 2022 added HCDR and streaming facility via Bluesound node and Chord qutest dac.
No immediate plans to make any changes- but you never know!

A little (no pun intended) embarrassing compared to the mega systems in this forum but here goes.
Nait 2, Rega RP6, and Falcon Q7’s/ Gold Badge speakers.

Getting very boring now but am posting the same system pics as I have done for the last 2 years. It’s just that the Nova and the PMC’s work so well together that I just listen to the music and don’t think about upgrading. Happy New Year everyone
