Changed the stacks so the brains are now higher making it easier to 1. Get the burndies off the floor and 2. Get som air between pre and NDS and phonostage. Figured it couldn’t hurt.
Also, I moved the whole stack out approximately a meter from the front wall. It made an astonishing difference to the sq, in a good way. Amazing really.
I’ve also got a pair of Evoke 50’s HH. Great speaker. “Downsized” from Focal Sopra 2’s (which i know you have some opinions about)… never missed the Focals at all. The 50’s work beautifully in my fairly large room driven by a 250 DR.
Very nice. If you feel the upgrade bug in the near future without wanting to make any big changes to the system, you may consider some Isoacoustics Gaia under the Tontrager stands. Chances are you will hear a difference, and the real question is whether it’s an improvement or degradation in sound quality. I use a set under my Graham LS5/9 and it resolved the unnatural boomy bass of the speakers by making it sound much more natural. I didn’t try the Gaias with the Harbeth when I owned them for more than a decade but suspect they will be beneficial when used with most speakers especially BBC types with thin-walled cabinet.
Yep. I (still own) a LP12/ARO/Armageddon/Lyra Kleos SL. The Solstice feeding my Superline/Supercap DR is the superior deck. I’m hoping to add a NPX-300 later this year.
That’s a nice photo Chris; turntables are very photogenic. The Equinox looks incredibly low slung and must be quite tricky to cue. The Apheta 3 that I had had a very prominent cantilever, so was really easy. The downside was that it looked incredibly vulnerable. I guess you can’t have it all.
