It has active speakers doing the amplification.
Well that was my thought Ian
Nothing really to do with the front end Atom HE being any better than the front end part of the Nova ??!!
I’m not surprised.
Like what sometimes well made simplicity can make the most elegant design.
Inspiring. Thanks for the info!
Think it’s time for some photos, my tower of power. Looking forward to setting up in my new studio, which is now likely to be in autumn.
Ooo, the V1 gets its own little stand…!
It’s temporary and you can’t tell it’s homemade by me . I originally made them for my old Kefs.
I can’t say why exactly, all I know is that I’m enjoying the music a lot more. It’s just more engaging, and that applies to music on the NAS, to Tidal and to iRadio. The HE of course doesn’t have a power amp, and instead the amps are in the speakers, 2 x 100W in each, with a fully analogue active crossover. No speaker cables, but instead balanced XLRs. The swap actually saved me money yet the result is so much better. Even the cables are cheaper - the Kudos leads were over £300 whereas the XLRs were £60. It really is a case of more for less. And the Atom is much smaller and better looking than the Nova. The only downside is the need to connect the speakers to the mains, but there are sockets under a foot from each speaker and while the plugs and cables are a little ugly it’s not too bad.
HH, if I may, do you do much headphone listening with the HE?
If so, views compared with the Nova?
Thanks for replying HH - amazing
I don’t have headphones, but if I did I’d expect it to be way better than the Nova. That’s its prime purpose after all.
That was almost a game of “spot the hifi”
See if you can get Marie Kondo to come take a look at that
I wish! Trouble is, what sparks joy for me does the opposite for the wife
I couldn’t see any HiFi. Just an Office Kitchen area. I don’t know where you prepare your food? Or maybe takeaways? Or do you eat out alot?
Active Linn speakers pre (in)eXakt is something special.
Its been a while since i shared my setup, or anything for that matter. Busy time. Moved in to this place a couple of years ago, my first with a dedicated listening room. Its also by far the best sound I’ve managed to date, thanks primarily to some acoustic treatment. GIK slatfusors on the wall and some bass traps behind the speakers and in the rear corners. Also figured out how to integrate the subs - which i know are controversial, but have added so much depth.
Its the first time i think i’ve actually been perfectly happy with the sound across such a wide range of music. Time to just focus on enjoying it.
I’ve been using Naim equipment for 41 years now, and have had a decent stereo for nearly 50. But it’s the first time I’ve had one without speaker leads.
It’s not all bad news
Very nice, such an elegant room!
