Your speakers must be power hungry. I’ve never activated the fans on the 500. and o do have days where hours of loud music is playing. My Harbs aren’t exactly power hungry but with little power they sound unexciting so it’s a good thing the 500 has enough power for them.
That’s probably camera software freaking out. When a snap is taken there is post processing that’s done.
Try some Russian Techno
Lol noted. Any recommendations?
I’ll absolutely keep the NDX2 and add a 555DR to it, but the rest of the Naim chain is on its last legs. I’m sick of the snake nest and untold number of black boxes and the ridiculous money I have to pay (even at half prices, so you can tell I’m poor) for ever smaller increments in SQ.
What chair is that? It looks great. Is it hot when working in it all day (swamp ass?). I need a new office chair and always go for mesh to keep comfortable but that chair does look great.
You have a healthy system with good sound , and with the C20, it delivers further . I would be more than happy with your current system set up … and very neat looking room nice !
Looks like the Eames of office chairs…!
Agree though, nice looks…

It is an Eames looking cheap office chair I bough on a special for $130 aud. I would rate it as 3/10 for comfort so look elsewhere!
Glad I asked then. My current chair was great but after 17 years worse for wear. The prices have gone up 300% in that time and a new one of the same model is pushing $4k. But I can barely afford a chair at 2008 prices and they are all a step down.
A bit like contemplating new Naim
The Herman Miller Aeron is still supposed to be the best……Crazy money though.
Funny thing is though, whenever I’ve used one, I’ve thought they were fine, but not exactly worth the expense….
It’s one of those items though, most folk won’t justify such an expense…Yet, you can seriously spend hours per day sat in it…
A bit like beds – 1/2 your life in a bed, but I’d guess many people don’t spend serious money on bed bases and mattresses….

I just bought a Vitra EA117, most your see are leather, but the synthetic fabric version is a bit cheaper, plus breathes way better, and comes in lots of colours! The fabric spec is off the charts for wear resistance too. It was about £2400 in an autumn sale here. I wfh full time, in a spare bedroom so, although wince inducing, I thought it worth it from a cost, quality and aesthetic point of view!
It is very comfortable.
(200,000 Martindale is the abrasion rating for the hopsack material - “40,000+ rubs: Suitable for extra heavy use, like public seating or healthcare furniture”)
Every office I’ve worked in had the Vitra EA117 in the meeting rooms. Really not my thing. I currently have a Okumura Baron with all the extras but like I said, 17 years and 5 moves have nearly destroyed it. It was $900 when I bought it. The things that are broken were designed to be replaced on the modified version that came out in 2010 but not the older version I have. Wince inducing now.
One of the comments which really helped me during my life was someone who said that you need to spend most money on what you use most. A good chair is defo one of it.
So true. I bought this Vitra lounger and ottoman knock off for $150 from IKEA. It is awful. I thought I had saved $5k. Turns out I wasted $150.
I fully agree with that. But worse than with chairs, where quite a few people still get something half decent, I find it amazing what crap keyboards people choose to type on. It’s the thing you interact with most!
My laptops tend to be Lenovo’s as as far as I’m aware they still have the best laptop keys. For external keyboards I still prefer by far old IBM Model M’s. Mine are originals, but new ones are still made by a company called Unicomp. (I have no experience of the new ones)
Those are a bit too loud for a shared office though, so there I have one using MX Clear tactile switches.
Good advice. I often think of that in the context of beds. However, I’ve never spent a lot on beds and spent more on my last hifi cable than I did on our last bed!!
You spend about a third of your life in bed, a good bed, and even more so mattress, is one of the best investments you’ll ever make.
My employer forced me on an Apple, which is fine really, but personally I still use my Lenovo X220, the last series with a decent keyboard.
