When I was making music, my most used piece of equipment was the drumming stool I sat on…
The Confidence 20s look very good. I heard them once at a trade show and was impressed. May I ask how big your room is? How the Confidence sound quite close to the wall?
I had one and it didn’t last - mistake buying it. now have a Hinomi which is very comfortable and holding up well to me sitting on it 40+ hours per week to work. Cheaper than a Herman Miller too
Hi
What are your initial impressions of the Dyn C 20s if you don’t mind me asking and what did you have before them?
Someone had to say it…
Well that is not really exclusive to Naim is it? Law of diminishing returns kicks in very early in HiFi acquisition.
The diminishing returns decrease when you reach the ladder of level of the gear.
There’s a big difference between a Nait 5i and the double price of 202/200.
But the difference is tiny between a 50 k dac and a 100 k one.
I do agree, but what about doubling the price and get a 282/200 or 282/250? Do you think there’s a tiny difference according to the price difference?
HAAA It`s true…this example reminds me when I wanted to lose weight…I ate unpalatable food.
I can recommend the Aeron without any reservation, and it didn’t take my wife long before she got one, too.
Not cheap but worth every penny and compared to high-end hifi terrific value for money IMO. The Aeron really makes a difference — much more than I expected… The only downside: I can no longer tolerate any other office chair for more than a couple hours…
Exactly. Office chair is pretty much at the top of the list but outperformed by spectacles. 3 family members, five pairs of Lindberg glasses…
When our son had to get glasses before the age of 9, he got Lindberg, too. Rather expensive spectacles for a child, I thought. But I couldn’t justify not getting the most comfortable glasses for him…
Had the PMC 25.23 with a REL T5/x before the Confidence 20. And before that, I had a pair of Dynaudio Heritage Specials.
- vs the PMC & REL, everything is bigger, faster, clearer and way more nuanced, but somehow mellower.
- vs the Heritage, the C20 are even more resolute with more tuneful bass (but less perceived bass quantity) and a more neutral presentation. They are also my first pair of bookshelves that sound like standfloors. Although the Heritages have a more joyful sound and a slightly inflated mid-base, they do sound like a bookshelf and after owning both, I can say that the built quality of the C20 exceeds that of the Heritages. They are also harder to drive than the Heritages, but not by much. The 250DR puts about 120W @6ohms, double or even triple that would have been closer to what is stamped on the back of these speakers. I’m thinking Hegel H600 or Vitus RI101 here. But this is just speculation on my part, Naims are very deceiving when it comes to power specs, in an extremely good way.
Something else I noticed is they maintain their composure at loud levels, unlike the PMC or Heritage Specials. At low levels however, the Heritages have a fuller sound. Not a fair comparison to the PMCs since they were augmented by the REL.
For now, the REL collects dust and will either go on sale or become a resting spot for the cats in the attic until I can afford to buy a house with a bigger home office.
@Wilfried My home office is 10sqm, so tiny. Absolutely beautiful to work with in terms of placement. I remember the Heritages were a bit boomy in this room but not the C20. 20cm from any walls seem more than enough.
Still big , 282/250 vs 202/200.
But 252/300 is not night and day vs 282/ hicap / 250.
Let us not forget that the one element you cannot put a value on and that has the most impact on the listening experience is the listener and their ears.
I have a 282/2x HiCap/300 and prefer it to the same but with a SuperCap. On paper the SuperCap is so much better, but I definitely prefer the 2x HiCap.
Would you say the 282/250 is comparable with the new 222/250? Do you think the 222/250 is a big step up from the 202/250?
Congrats !!
