Thank you. Me too.
The painter was Bruno Krauskopf. 1892-1960.
Since my last picture the NSC222 has been sold. NC 250/300 is resting in anticipation of NAC332 and NVC TT.
I haven’t come to an agreement with myself whether it will be NSS333 (the obvious choice) or a shared solution streamer-Dac. For now the Wiim Ultra plays with Qutest and Nait50.
All loan kit back and now in need of a declutter and put some of the kit that isn’t being used into some boxes.
So after listening to the Densen Beat B100 amp and B400 CD player, with combinations from Musical Fidelity A1 and Naim Nait 50 my mate made his choice.
He is currently awaiting delivery of a Densen DM10 from a dealer in Germany after being beguiled by the B100. It will join the B440xS CD player he snagged to go in front of his Klipsch floor standing speakers (the relatively new ones).
He said it just had a combination of all the dynamics but felt most natural to him.
After a long pause I now have new speakers. I’ve put them on Gaia IIs because the floor is LVT over concrete and spikes aren’t allowed! I was lucky to get this upgrade so not pushing my luck
.
Congratulations! I agree with you, the 332 is quit a bit of a lift from the already good 222.
Hope you enjoy the new speakers. I am very happy with the Titan 606s and do not see me replacing them with anything else …for the foreseeable future. Also on Gaia IIs for similar reasons.
Indeed. The improvement over my previous speakers is very significant. SQ is so much more realistic/lifelike. End game speakers for me and only a little over half the current retail price. Very pleased. The Gaias though were an expense I didn’t need, but hopefully they improve things over spikes and discs which are awkward when making adjustments.
And then, SL2 in place again at the better front wall. They’re on loan from the owner @Chalshus, he’s a nice guy ![]()
New grills from Tomtom have arrived, not packed up yet.
Grills on.
Lovely! ![]()
Nice speakers - love them a lot! Even without Gaias ![]()
Good price - got mine for a bit less than half, but not new, s/h
So lovely to see them playing again ![]()
SL2 - Nait 50 and Bauer TT must be an amazing kombo ![]()
Sydney system back to 5 level simplicity, now no XPS2 and SCDR
PL12 ARO/superline/hicapdr/lingo 4
CD5XS as transport into NDX2 dac
NDX2
Yes a slight degradation in SQ but still sounds great so not missing the big PS’s
Nice Pylod, yes, your former sl2 do very, very well together with Bauer/ Nait
You have really taken care of those designs during your ownership.
I tried my best
It played almost 13 years at the end of my 500 set. A remarcable design, which reacted to all changes of cartridges or front ends.
Regarding the speed the SL2 is one of the fastest designs ever.
It was just the wish for a more extended bottom end, which made me change for the new speaker
I loved my sl2’s all be it they were a bit of a faff to set up…. But concur re bottom end. Shame we don’t get Naim speakers anymore…..
SL2 was a realy daring design. Not many companies are willed to go that way. Still remember the love-hate in the first years, resulting in many calling them pregnant pinguins ![]()
What I find a bit ridiculous is the price for some new foamfronts. It‘s great that a company offers them, but here the chinese competition could chime in and offer them for 15 buggs. I guess a too small marked to bother though.
Are the beautiful Titans not down firing?
I believe they are, although they are on a solid plinth. The Gaias (or spikes) raise the plinth off the floor. I suspect the port is where there is a cutaway towards the rear.
I would say fixed boundary, in that the downward firing port uses the plinth to give a known distance between the port and the first surface any moving air hits. I believe this gives better “tuning” to the speaker and improves placement as distance to wall/floor in this case is known.
Others with more knowledge please feel free to comment/update.
