I have the down firing Kudos Super Cardea 20a and use the Track Audio Spike shoes because I was told that the Gaia’s are designed for forward and or back firing speakers for that reason the Gaia’s can move a little forward and backwards.
It is all that maters that you have good results with them!
I’ve not heard that be advice. Was that from a dealer?I didn’t want to use spike shoes as it makes adjusting speaker position more difficult.
The Tack Isolation Shoes have felt on the bottom. To move my 606’s, I lift slightly from the plinth, just enough to take some weight off, then slide them. So easy on my Karndean LVT floor!
When I had the carpet, trying to move them precisely with the spikes was a nightmare!
Yes, a dealer advised me to not to buy the Gaia for down firing speakers. The effect would be minimal. I have not tried it myself.

Using the DAC of the NDX2 for the CD5XS helps it a lot
