That’s good to hear Dan, I’ve followed your journey and it has inspired me albeit in a different direction. When my vision is done I’m hoping it will be the last move I make.
The SQ improvement from the start of this journey back on October 1st 2022, when it looked like this…
…to the final iteration, achieved on 19th November this year…
…is simply incomparable.
I absolutely believe 100% that I am done!
Must be the Lion given the most effect ;o) Looks so much better. And the rest is for sure! This will sound wonderrful!
I believe you are done. It is knowing when to stop the upgrades is the key.
The basis of your system is done. Nothing wrong with changing cables, cart and Linn upgrades on LP12. But these will yield subtle and small improvements.
I am done too. System is more than good enough. Time to leave it alone.
I have had tendencies towards a Gryphon Diablo 333. But then what I have is more than good enough.
Time to sit back and get on with other things in life!
I thought that after my post…but not sure, since “they look like they sound great” makes as little logical sense as “they sound like they look great!” ![]()
They do look super smart and a nice space to listen to music, enjoy!
A wonderful setup, definitely no upgrades needed, enjoy the music
Ha ha ha, that’s what they all say. ![]()

Thanks for the vote of confidence Pete ![]()
Hope all is well with you and you have an enjoyable Christmas with the family ![]()
I have full confidence in you to stick to your guns, QuickSticks
you’ve built a wonderful setup, its time to enjoy
For a brief moment I thought you had a system at each end of the room ![]()
Looks very nice
No Terry, swapped ends a few years ago. The space layout with the door position didn’t really work with it the other way around.
Much more comfortable and better use of space now ![]()
Yeah, I’ll be sticking with the 500 system downstairs for a while I think. Either it’s my personality, the hobby, or both but I always continuously research knew options to try. I do enjoy the simplicity of the living room system now though. The Selekt DSM with just an amp and speakers is nice. My LP12 plugs into the Selekt. Things just sound nice for that room.
I almost went that route but stayed with the 300 DR for now. Do you have dual Organik DAC’s on your Selekt?
I thought I would share a couple pics of my main system. I finally built the matching subs to the speakers and cabinet I built well over a decade ago. It is definitely a nice finishing touch on the sound quality. They integrated very well with the 2.5 way sealed towers. It was not easy trying to match the finish though.
Very cool. Is there anything you can share about the design (and building) of the speakers?
There’s a few of us on here that have built their own speakers, also a few of us had their own build threads. Here’s mine:
Unfortunately, I never took many good photos of the sub builds but they are the Scanspeak revelator 13” 32W4878T. With the 1000W Fusion plate amp. Most of the enclosure has a double layer of 3/4” MDF with 3/8” Baltic birch top bottom and sides. So almost 2” thick. The front baffle is 2 layers of 1” Baltic Birch plywood. They feel pretty solid. I never put any damping material on the inside. Just shellac to seal it up.
I could start a new DIY thread so everyone could share their own builds.
Re your DIY thread….this would indeed be interesting.
I often wonder about “risking” such a venture!
Be well
