Hope all goes well, take it easy. Probably the fewer people you meet the better for you until your immune is backup and running.

I hope this comes over the way I mean it to. I hope they send you home saying that these are the sort of spikes to expect, if not then you’ll be in the right place. Take care Pete.

I’m in triage apparently I have an infection where my picc line was. It’s still to be confirmed, and they have me iv line with antibiotics. I’ll be in at least overnight.

I have been good and hardly left the house on the odd occasions I’ve always worn a mask.

Thinking of you mate. Try to sleep as much as possible and let those IV ABs do their job.

All thoughts with you…

Been stable all night and all my blood tests are clear. According to the nurses they all think that I was taken off the oral antibiotics too soon. With any luck I’ll be going home today.

I’ve got a doctors appointment (my local) getting my shots is one of the questions on my list. It may not be a priority now as we’re coming into summer.

Get your shots in

I think it may be the best in the long run

Take care, stay safe , stay snug

Did you discuss it with your oncologist? It’s quite a specialised question I would have thought, given your very low impunity and a flu vaccine at least is giving you a dose of the virus which could throw your temperature up again?

Yep I’ll be talking to both before I do anything, I’ve got an appointment with my oncologist on the 22nd of this month. She’ll also hopefully give me the good news that the stem cell therapy worked and in long term remission.

Hi Pete
According to NZ immunisation service website:

From 6 months after the stem cell transplant you can get the flu and Covid vaccines. After 12 months you can get other vaccines except for MMR and chickenpox/ varicella which need 24 months post stem cell transplant.

So you have timed your stem cell transplant well, as sumner is coming and flu incidence is decreasing.

Thanks, as for timing that’s just been luck. However we did discuss with my oncologist about the upside of having summer and autumn (which generally quite warm) to recover.

I’m laying low for at least a month and being extremely cautious about outside contact. I was told today that my immune system is already helping and I’m probably not as fragile as I think.

Wise being extra cautious. Good to get out for some vitamin D as much as you can.
